question about purchasing a ticket for my fiancee

I've never bought a ticket for someone other than a US citizen

Perhaps today I will buy a ticket for my honey on Delta

Will I need anything more than her passport #,,??

Will I need the visa number?

Will she run into any problems checking in?

thanks for your advice

Hi bgamb.

If you are buying a domestic ticket (probably not?), all you need is the name exactly as it is on the ID your partner will be using.

If you are buying an international ticket, you will need the name, exactly as it is on the passport, the passport number, and the expiration date of the passport. Other information you MIGHT need are: visa number or ESTA number and birthdate.

I have purchased international tickets for my honey before, and just needed name, number and expiration date. She travels on ESTA (we have an I-130 pending), so she has to go into the ESTA system and register her flights - but she does that herself.

Yeah, sounds about right. If those other countries do not require a visa then it should be simple. You may need to have your CFO done first.

OK...I booked a ticket on delta...

they did not ask for anything but her name and date of birth

Is this a problem?

What is ESTA???

what needs to be done?????????

YIKES

The only thing delta did was warn me that I have to go to a delta counter somewhere and confirm my identity (for credit card info)

HELP.....!!

POS---she has her passport and visa

The day before her NY flight..she will get the CFO sticker

THE MANILA FLIGHT TO THE USA IS THIS FRIDAY

went to the esta site

Looks like this applies ONLY if you are coming to the USA under a visa waiver situation

BUT....then it says this:

Apply for a New Authorization to Travel to the United States for Individuals or Groups

Select this option if:

  • You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.
  • You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.
  • Your travel is for 90 days or less.
  • You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

I am CONFUSED.....!!!!---SHE HAS THE K1 VISA but technically it is for 90 days or less

ESTA for sure does not apply.

Easy way to find out what you will need for booking the flight for your fiancee is call the airline. I know when I booked the flight for my wife Hawaiian didn't even ask for her passport number. It's a quick call to the airline.

she puts me on hold for 5 minutes

comes back and says she cannot find info on K1 visas

SOOOO..she says she googled it and started telling me twhat she needs at POE...like sealed envelop etc

I said WAIT

I ONLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT DELTA NEEDS TO GIVE HER A BOARDING PASS

She said passport and visa rather hedgingly......did not instill me with confidence

In many cases, yes, PP and visa are all that are needed. Worst case, they MAY ask her for a copy of your CC and ID to present at the gate (not sure if Delta does this). You can scan and email those to her, have her print them out and carry them in her purse just in case, if you want.

Hank...LOL...translate please......

you are saying that you believe the passport and visa are all she needs?

Yes... it's not complicated. Buying the airline ticket is difficult, navigating NAIA is! (CFO, Travel tax and .... gone)

Like Dave said, they may want to see a copy of the CC and maybe the DL, but you can get around that by going out to the airport by you and handling that so it's already on record.

Thanks both of you

I sent her a copy of my delta AMES skymiles card as well as copy of my passport

I read about this here

What is ""DL"" mentioned above? Drivers license? she does not have one

She'll have another form of photo id...also has a learners permit

I feel a little relieved

Make sure you send you fiancée a copy of the following as they sometimes ask for the following in Manila:

1) Your credit card used for purchase (Black out all but the last 4 digits of your card #),

2) A photo ID (blacking out the numbers you do not want them to have).. I scanned my now wife my Drivers License and Passport. I blacked out the DL # and Passport #. All went great for her with no issues.
