I am Brazilian. My family moved to US when I was 4 then a few years later my parents divorced. We moved back to brazil with my mother but my dad stayed in Florida. Since then, his visa expired and he's been living there illegally.

A couple years ago I applied for a tourist visa but was denied because of my illegal father. I now want to go to Dallas to study on a student visa. I've already received my I-20 and will now start the visa process.

Will I be denied my student visa because of my father too?? I don't even speak to him and I'm trying to study in Dallas which is a few states away from him in Florida. Any advice?? Even advice for my interview? I'm so worried!

Yes I have contacted a few immigration attorneys. They all have required an appointment with a fee in order to even speak with them about it. For this reason I decided to post this online to see if anybody may have some insight on this issue. Thank you!

I do not see what a Lawyer can do. It is not impossible, but for a non immigrant visa it will certainly be much harder to show non immigrant intent.

Exactly.
