Hello all. New here... Please go easy on me, as I'm very new to all of this! biggrin.png

I just have a some general (perhaps vague) questions regarding the K-1 Visa process. I looked through the FAQ, but couldn't find the direct answers, but maybe I'm blind..

Anyways!

1. My fiancee is Lithuanian, and she moved to the UK in 2011. Does she have to return to Lithuania to do all the embassy stuff, or can that be done in London, where she lives? (Again, sorry for being so vague.)

2. Do I have to visit her home country (Lithuania) before we can start the K-1 process? She has come to the United States twice now to visit me.

Thank you, guys! smile.png

1. As long as she is a legal resident of the UK, then she can interview in London.

2. You only have to have met face-to-face within the 2 years prior to filing the I-129F petition. It does not matter where the meeting took place. Just make sure to provide solid evidence of the meeting.

No and no, she lives in Uk now and as part of EU she's legally there regardless of what shes doing there so she can apply through London and you don't have to visit Lithuania. Edited by agnesb

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

I have some more silly questions..

My fiancee has not had an official job yet. She is currently 18, and will likely be 19/20 by the time we get intend to get married. She does volunteer at an animal facility, though. If she has no income from working, won't that be a huge red flag?

For what it's worth, my parents, who make fairly good money, will be able to sponsor her.

Also, I will be getting a full-time job, soon. How long do I have to be working for it to "count" as my official yearly income when filing? I hope that makes sense! haha

Thank you.

There is no requirement for the beneficiary to work or make any certain income. The USC petitioner is the one that will need to prove they can support their foreign fiance(e) so they do not become a public charge.

There is no set time you have to have been employed, but the longer you have been working at the same job, the better. They want to see stable, ongoing employment/income. The COs tend to understand if you have been a student and just recently started full time employment. The financials are not required until later at the K-1 interview, so you have months to be working while waiting for the I-129F petition approval and interview scheduling.
