HELLO!

I am hoping someone can help me! My Italian fiance went to his town to ask for his vaccination records, and they said that they don't have him on file, and therefore don't have his vaccination records!

Where do we go from here?? Is there some other document that can be used in it's place?

Also, my fiance requested his birth certificate, but his parents' names are not on it. Should he instead request an Estratto di Nascità? If so, does it need to be authorized a certain way, or is the stamp from the Comune good enough?

THNK YOUUU!

Hi Domy,

We recently got the 'Estratto' We had to request it from the Commune, which meant waiting a few days for them to prepare it. Luckily my husband's childhood friend works in the Commune and we got it the same day. If you can get the Estratto, get it.

As for vaccinations, I am not sure, but I'm sure someone can. I would think that he can get vaccinated now or upon his medical exam, he will receive them. There is a list of vaccinations the Consulate in Naples will expect or you can try calling or emailing them with your question.

Good luck!

Hi Domy!

Wow, how come I'm not surprised?!?! Sorry they couldn't find his record at the local ASL. He can perhaps ask them to write a letter stating that in such and such date he came to their office to ask for his record, but that it was missing.

He will have to get his shots done anyway. He need MMR (two doses) and TD. If he already has both, he could go for a count of antibodies (that should also be readily available).

As for the Birth Certificate, bellavita38 is quite right, you need an "Estratto". I had mine printed out on a multilingual form, and went to the "Prefettura" to get the "apostille" (sort of notarized), however I'm not sure that is required by the consulate.

What is your timeline? I tried to click on it but you don't have one!

Best of luck!

Any idea if the MMR vaccine is necessary even if my husband had measles, mumps and rubella? We have a doctor's note verifying. I will probably get this translated as well.

thanks!

You don't need to get it translated, but it won't hurt if you do.

At the Varelli (Medical Exam) they speak Italian...same thing at the Consulate! HEHEHEHE ;-)

In Naples I overheard the doctor saying to a man that he needed the vaccine or a blood test showing that he has antibodies against the diseases. But he didn't have any certification from his doctor.

And no, you don't need a translation, doctors are Italian and the Istituto Varelli is an Italian place.

Hi!

Estratto di nascita: your spouse have to request it in the City Hall where he was born, and you can ask the plurilingual version, it's already translated in many languages including English. I had it in few minutes. Then you have to go to the Prefettura (a Police office) for the apostille (I had it in few minutes too, but sometimes they ask you to leave the document there and to take it back the next day).

Vaccines records: his parents should have it, but if not you should ask to ASL. I hope your spouse is young, 'cause if not they don't have records on the computer...

Duh! That's right.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am so bogged down getting everything ready, that the little things slip by.

Think he should just get the MMR vaccination at his local ASL to be sure?

He is getting his 'anti-tetano' next week since his last is over 10 years old.

Thanks for the help guys!!

He could definitely go ask...that's what I did!

They transcribed ALL my record (I had different papers from different places, i.e. Air Force, College in the States, etc.).

Indeed, all I was missing was the "anti-tetano".

Best of luck!
