The office where my packet was sent is across the country from where we live so I'm 99.9% sure we're not getting called for an interview. I saw somewhere on the VJ site the other day that sometimes NVC sends AOS packets to California to finish their processing but I of course can't remember where I saw it on here and can't find it now!

It looks like taking several days(7-10 days) to processing the letters issued on June 5.

Great news, thanks. This is the first confirmation we have had that a NPIW case has been approved with an 'expired' medical. USCIS must not be applying their new I-693 rules to our backlog of cases. I'll give a tentative 'Phew' to that!

I don't think it's the date of the medical that's relevant in this situation. Your medical is valid for an AOS application as long as it's filed within 1 year of the date marked on it.

As long as your medical is valid upon submission, it's 1 year from the date of submission to USCIS that it expires, not 1 year from when it was completed.

Thanks GiuseppeG - yes you're right. The recent USCIS alert did really confuse me though. I think it confused a lot of other people too.

USCIS Issues New Policy on Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record

Starting June 1, 2014, USCIS will limit the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. Applicants must also submit Form I-693 to USCIS within one year of the immigration medical examination. USCIS will also provide additional ways to submit Form I-693. As outlined in policy alert PA-2014-005, this updated policy applies to any Form I-693 supporting a benefit application that USCIS adjudicates on or after June 1, 2014.

USCIS will hold an engagement on June 12, 2014 to address questions about the new policy and provide guidance on filing Form I-693. We have also updated the Form I-693 Web page on our website.

I wasn't sure what 'the date of submission to USCIS' would be for a K1 case. The date the I-693 is sent by the doctor to the embassy? The date you arrive in the U.S. with it in your package? The date you send in your DS-3025 with your AOS package?

Anyway, even if it was the very earliest date possible (that being the date the I-693 is completed) it looks like we're good. That's kind of why I was asking about the date of the medical - worst case scenario. I've probably got it all wrong but at least I'm feeling a bit more confident about the whole thing now.

I took it to mean the date when it was first handed to USCIS, which would be POE. Which gives me 2 months and 3 days from now until expiry!

Though I hope what it really refers to is the AOS application date. It's not like the medical is of any use to USCIS before that.

How can you tell? I received the potential interview waiver letter on June 5th, still nothing. 2 more days and it will be 6 months.
