Ok... I am very new at this K1 thing. Looking at this website and all the people in it, I figured I ask my questions and see if I can get some answers based on your experiences.

1. What is this "touched" thing afterall? I browsed thru this site and saw this phrase so many times? Could somebody explain please?

2. I was told to not to make any wedding plans in the US at least until I get my NOA2. Do you agree?

3. Is it an advantage or disadvantage that your fiancee has lived in the US in the past, of course all lawfully, never out of status, has a SSN,etc. during this application?

4. What is involved in the medical? This is just out of curiosity really...

Could you all help out?

1. When you log on to the USCIS website, look at the date on your case (it changes when touched) - click on the case and read the details. In the case of touches usually the message is the same. When an approval happens on your case your date will change but the status message will be changed as well.

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp Go to this site and register if you have not done so already and you can keep up with your touches this way.

2. It is always best to not set your date in concrete for your marriage until you have a good idea that your case can be finalized and ready to come to the USA. If you make plans and they cannot issue the visa by the time of the wedding you may have to incur a financial loss.

3. Not sure it matters but all good things no overstays or other problems.

4. Medical is basic physcial and chest xrays and blood tests.

Good luck.

Mary

All about touches can be found here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=300

NOA 2 is not a guarentee of a visa, you should hold on making any plans until you have the visa in hand. Delays can happen at all steps of the process, NVC and Consulate can hold things up.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

1. Means that someone has done something with your case file. This could be for any number of reasons. Some important, some not. One shouldn't put too much emphasis on their case being touched and some members will have no touches. The system is not always updated.

2. One shouldn't make wedding plans until one has visa in hand. You never know what may hold up this process.

3. Makes no difference providing as you say there was no overstays etc.

4. This can be consulate specific, so better to know which consulate so someone with knowledge of that specific consulate can give you a rundown.

[Do I have to register at the website in order to get updates or can I log and find out the latest status every now and then? You see I did not register to get auto updates thinking the lawyer might have already done so and was not sure whether multiple registers would be allowed or no.

You can register if you like, just go on the uscis website and do it there... very easy and nice when you get an email from them! On this forum, at the top, I suggest you go to guides and then into K1 Visas... have a read of this and it will help you step by step. I wish I had seen this forum before we sent in our petition. Goodluck!
