at my interview time she only asked me for my passport and i told her that i never travelled outside of USA after i came to USA so she did not bothered to look at my passport.

It took about 2 1/2 hours from check in. Tanya had a Judicial Ceremony because she wanted to change the spelling of her name from the Ukrainian version to the Russian version. So I'm not sure if the Administrative Ceremonies take more or less time. The check in took about 1 1/2 hours and the actual ceremony took about 1 hour. There was a ROTC color guard from a local high school, then a nice singing of the national anthem from a student of a local college. The Judge spoke and during his speech said there were 50 applicants that day representing 25 different countries, then a guest Judge spoke. Then the Oath of Renunciation and Allegiance. Then he welcomed all the new U.S. citizens and everyone applauded. Very nice ceremony. Afterwards they had cookies, fruit and coffee in the waiting room along with a professional photographer because no one is allowed to bring cell phones or cameras into a federal courthouse. (This might not be the case for an administrative ceremony, if it's not in a federal courthouse.)

I'm glad this visa journey is over. It's been said so many times before, but I feel I need to say it again, The guidance, advice and support from everyone here on Visa Journey is something very special. I can't think of a more useful website, and freely given to everyone! Thanks all!!!

Thanks you guys!

Mine was little over 1.5 hrs, but we had a delay. Letter said it's at 1pm, so We got there at 12:30, they started leading us to the auditorium well after 1pm, and ceremony didn't start until 1:47. Some people had letters stating 2 different timings (1 letter said 1pm and another said 1:30pm) so they decided to wait to make sure everyone gets in. We had 135 people taking the oath that day, from 40 different countries, and whole lot of babies and toddlers causing rukus by the end as they ran out of patience (including my son) By 2:45 we were ready to head out. I didn't stop for voters registration.

it took me 2 and half months to get done with my interview,

Since i am changing my name i will have to wait for court ceremony which i dont know how long its going to take.

My case status has not changed either. Hopefully this coming week it will change.

So, here is a summary of my interview:

Got to the USCIS building in downtown San Francisco at 7:40, my appointment was scheduled at 8:00. Went through security, walked to a first reception area where they took my fingerprints and my photo, and sent me to another room on the second floor. There I checked in again, they took my notice and asked me to wait until my name was called. At about 8:20 they called my name, my wife and I walked to the door and the officer greeted us, told my wife to wait outside "He will be fine on his own".

He swore me in, then started going through the form line by line to confirm whether the info I had written was accurate. I had to explain a couple of things (never been arrested, just cited and paid the fines), my work, my addresses, then my wife's work, her address, if we have ever been separated at any time since I became an LPR.

Then he moved on to the questions. The first question he asked me was "there are 4 amendments in the Constitution about the right to vote, name one". I said "Any citizen can vote (men and women)", and we got into a discussion about this answer because to him my answer was not complete. I told him that that's the answer in the book, but I also agree that it is not complete, and they should revise the book. At that point he asked me to elaborate a little, and I said "Every citizen 18 and older can vote", and he was happy with that. I forgot the other 5 questions, but one answer was "Communism", and then I answered "The President" 4 times in a row...

He asked me to read the sentence "Which State has the most people?", and then to write "California has the most people". He made a joke about many people moving to Arizona, and that maybe that sentence I wrote down was not accurate any longer.

He then checked my dates of marriage and residence, confirmed that I had met the 3-year requirement and checked the "Congratulations!" box. He told me that I will get a notice in the mail soon, and that my oath will likely be on January 29th in Oakland. I was out by 8:50.

All in all pretty easy, looking forward to receiving the oath letter and complete my journey.

finally an email/sms today stating that i have been scheduled for interview. now waiting for the actual interview letter to know the date and time of interview.

lets see when i get that.

Oath Ceremony

On December 16, 2013, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

09-26-2013 Priority Date
10-1-2013 Acceptance Email/Text
10-1-2013 Check Cashed
10-04-2013 Received Receipt
10-7-2013 Finger Print Letter received
10-28-2013 Finger Print Date
10-29-2013 Status Changed to Inline for interview
11-06-2013 Interview scheduled
11-09-2013 Interview Letter Received
11-25-2013 Yellow Letter to bring Drivers License,
12-12-13. Interview Date /// Approved
12-16-2013 In-line for oath Scheduling
4-16-2014 Text/Email that Scheduled For oath ceremony
4-19-2014 Received Oath Letter
5-16-2014 , Oath Ceremony, I am a New Citizen. Thanks Allah.
Notice to everyone reading my Naturalization Timeline
That it took me 5 months to have oath after the interview is only because i requested for a name change,
this is what delayed my case by months

Administrative Processing Starts
28 April 2010 AP completed just out of blue.
30 April 2010 Visa received


21 Months Total from start to VISA received


8 Months in AP TOTAL 239 Days
