Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and currently filling out forms for the K1. I am very confused over this part that I read in the step my step guide :

Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page attachment regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.

On the form that I downloaded from USCIS there is no such question 18. There seems to be a difference between the form on the USCIS website/K1 downloads from vj and the visa journey example. The only similar question on my form is " 34a. Describe the circumstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was established. If you met the fiancé(e) or spouse though an international marriage broker, please explain those circumstances in number 36. Explain in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your fiancé(e) must have met should not apply to you."

Am I using the wrong form? This discrepancy is confusing me!

Also, how do I know the address of the filing location? I reside in Cincinnati Ohio.

Thanks!

If you will download the I-129F form here in VJ, that was the old form. You can still use it according to USCIS if you will file your application until September 16, 2013. But I suggest for you to use the new edition of I-129F (the one available in USCIS website).

The Part B Qustion 18 will then become Part 2 Question 34A. And you will just still follow the advice of VJ to hae it single-typed, signed, and dated declaration of how you met in person in the last two years.

I'm not sure on the question numbers. However, always use the forms and instructions from the uscis website. (Download their instructions also). We did not use an entire separate page as our story was quite clear, we met while working together in the UAE and we both had work visas included in the packet for the same place. The filing location is on the instructions both to Texas- sent to different locations depending on HOW you ship.

USCIS just recently updated the I-129F form, so the question numbers no longer match the guide nor does the example form. It can still be helpful though. You are not required to write a separate, long detailed love story for how you met. The amount of space provided on the form is indicative how long they believe the typical answer needs to be. Just state how you met and then give the date(s), location and circumstances of your meeting in person within the last 2 years. Short, sweet and to the point works very well.
