An Islamic group's plan for a 'Million Muslim March' on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States has sparked outrage among many who call the timing 'insensitive.'

The American Muslim Political Action Committee says it wants to use the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington to march on the National Mall and protest against what the group says is discrimination against Muslims by Americans and the U.S. government.

However, the group's plan might be a little too ambitious. AMPAC, based in Kansas City, Missouri, has just 57 supporters signed up for the September 11 event on Facebook.

But no one will see that. There's still a lot of hatred towards muslims.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

Aggressive proselytizing faiths always attract a lot of antipathy. Some of it justified.

But for those who pratice Islam the proper way, we carry the burden of the few who are idiots.

Yeah, you're the only ones.

Why pick that day? To get the most attention?

Yes and if the organizers were really intent on changing peoples minds, they would not want to start a fire storm, that marching on 9-11 will start.

They are going to hurt their cause not help it.

Obviously for attention. And they're surprised about backlash for planning it for Sept. 11? It would get negative reaction any day, but on the this day it would be suicidal to expect a good result.

It is well beyond stupid. Doing it on Sept. 11 will make people even more anti Muslim.

People who want to hate muslims will hate muslims, those that can differentiate between muslims and terrorist will continue to do so. I think the idea was to juxtapose what terrorists did against what muslims are but expecting an intelligent response to that is probably extreme wishful thinking so yes it was an extremely bad idea if the end result is meant to be a reduction in prejudice against every day folks who practice the muslim religion.

True, jehova's witnesses piss me off big time.
