Last leg of my immigration journey, citizenship for my 21 yr old

We're finally getting around to getting my 21 yr old daughter's N400 application in the mail (she has been eligible since late Feb but we haven't been in a rush).

All I can say is thank goodness the light is at the end of the tunnel - only about 4- 5 more months and I can kiss USCIS goodbye for life more or less - the last $680 check is being written.

Since our K1 application in Jan of 2007, it's been a long but successful road - almost married for 6 yrs now, myself a citizen for 2.

I will not be shedding a tear when its all done

PS:... and I couldn't have done it without VJ friends

Congratulations-what a long road it has been for you but it's good to know there is an end to it all!! Random question-are you going to get rid of all the papers and such from along the way or do you hold onto those for life?

Good question - I held onto each package from each stage for a long time but I deconstucted the K1 and AOS and ROC when I was doing my citizenship. I filed all my documents back in their usual palce in a file I keep with copies of our marriage certs, birth certs etc...for everyone in the family. I saw no reason to keep things like a copy of my husband's letter promising he would marry me from our K1 because it just wasn't relevant anymore. Its a nice walk down memory lane but USCIS is not going to come back and ask for that again. I can't remember if I filed or shredded NOA's from along the way but when I think about it now, I don;t know why I'd keep them. USCIS doesn't have any rule about keeping things for x number of years I don;t believe.

I had a small shredfest and filed everything else neatly away. I kind of felt like now that I have my US passport and citizenship certificate I am good to go.

Congrats with the next step!

My oldest 2 will get to start their process this Oct. I can't wait for it to be done with. The younger 2 got theirs when I did and well little Alexis was just born with dual along with this next little one. I can't wait till we don't need to deal with anymore paper work.
