Hello Everyone,

I am in the very last steps of a surprisingly hassle-free IR-1 visa process. My interview has been scheduled, but it honestly could not have been scheduled for a worse day. I travel every few weeks for work, and if I keep my scheduled interview date, there is no possible way for me to do the medical exam before the interview.

I have read in many places that it is strongly recommended that I complete the exam before my interview, but if I chose to complete the step after my interview, will it hurt my application, or simply delay it? Is it actually forbidden to show up to your interview without your medical results? Can I be denied my interview if I have not completed the medical examination?

Any advice would be very appreciated - Thank you!!

Oops - thanks! I just put in some info on the timeline.

I am interviewing in Montreal, Canada. On the medical examination information pages, there are big reminders saying it is "imperative" to schedule your exam before the interview or your application will be delayed. But if I choose to reschedule my interview, I will be delayed anyways, as the next available date won't be for another three and half months. Can they deny my interview if I don't do the exam beforehand? Will the delay be longer than three and a half months?

They've made it sound quite serious, and I understand why, but I am literally on the other side of the world and I can't make it back to Canada before my interview (I can hardly make the interview!)

Any suggestions?

Just a thought, i understand you are working, and at the end of the day, you have to provide a roof over your head and food on table... but havent you been waiting long enough to move back to the US? and to potentially delay it 3-3.5 months for a medical exam which you could schedule with a physician and explain to them your scheduling issues, i am sure one of the 4 or 5 of the physicians can try and squeeze you in. One of them i saw even takes passport pictures for your while you are there and will courier the papers to you or you can pick them up in 48 hours...

just a thought, dont let this hold you back from your loved ones!

just my .02, hope i didnt overstep... congrats on getting your interview! i am just starting my process for my wife! dancin5hr.gif

Thanks - I understand your point, and yes, I have waited long enough. I have over simplified my situation because it is bit of a mess, but the explanation is a long and irrelevant. The problem isn't scheduling the medical examination. The problem is that the first time I can get back to Canada is very late the evening before my interview and the medical exam takes 3 hours and then 3 days to get the results (in montreal).

I need to know if it is in any way harmful to my application (other than delays) to complete the medical examination after the interview. If it isn't, then I will keep my interview date. If it is, then I will reschedule the interview.

Good luck to you and your wife! My partner and I have actually had a really easy process, although it has taken a lot longer than we were hoping.

It will take some time to get your visa after your interview. You will be stuck in Canada until you get your passport back. It can be a month or more. There was someone on the Canada forum that had to do that. You may want to do an advanced search?

Ok this will be a stupid question, but is there any rule saying that the medical exam has to be in your country? What would happen if you just did it while overseas? Given that you can find an approved civil surgeon and they take cash...

I guess depending on what country you're in an how much you wanna pay lol.
