Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are planning to file a K1 petition in March, but we are planning ahead! We are going to be getting a co-sponsor, and aren't too sure about size of household...

He and I will be living together. We are planning to have his stepdad act as our co-sponsor, who lives with my fiance's mom, and will have no dependents by the time we file.

So, in terms of having 125% of the poverty guidelines, will the household size in this case be 3 (fiance's mom and stepdad and me)? My fiance will NOT be included in this, right, as he will not be dependent on his stepdad for financial support?

Just wanted to make sure!

Thank you in advance!

Yes; your fiance;s household (as your petitioner he must file a I-134 too) is 2- you and him. Step dad's household is 3- him, his wife and you.

Thanks for your reply, penguin_ie! My fiance does not make enough to be the sole sponsor, which is why we need someone else. Even though the petitioner must fill out the form, will they really only be considering our co-sponsor's income when it comes to the approval process?

Yes. Even if the USC petitioner has no income, they are still the primary sponsor and must fill out an I-134 and provide their supporting documents. The only consulate I am aware of that does not require the USC petitioner to also file an I-134 when using a co-sponsor is London.
