Hi guys,

I am a USA citizen and I am filling a petition for my wife and my son, all of us are Mexican, but I born here in the USA.

We got married in Mexico a few months ago and we have a lot of questions!

Can someone tell me if the paperwork that I have is the rigth one?

-Form 1-30, one for my wife, one for my son. I have to send it separated or together? I have to pay 420 for each application or 420 for botth?

-Form G-325A, one for me, one for my wife and one for my son

-I-864, just for me as the main sponsor

-Form I-134, I also ask two joint sponsors to help me, so they are filling this form, is this correct?

-DS-230 Part I and II, one for my wife, one for my son and one for me, is this correct?

-Form G-1145, to receive updates about my status

We also have:

-Birth certificates of the 3 of us, original and copy

-Copy of my USA passport

-Copy of the Mexican passport of my wife and son - pendant

-Marriage certificate, original and copy

-Bank statements of both countries

-IDs of both countries in my case and one country in the case of my wife and son

-Two letters of people who know us well and knows that our relationship is true

ALL THE DOCUMENTS ARE TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH AND CERTIFIED BY A TRANSLATOR

-Pictures of us, when we were single, when she was pregnant, with our son

I DONT HAVE:

-Taxes information, I born in the USA, but my parents tokk me back to Mexico when I was a baby, I never lived here before.

Thanks a lot for your help, we are waiting the passports of my wife and son to bring the first package, I am going to keep you in the loop!

You don't need all of this in the beginning. Read the official guide here and the VJ guide here and you'll know exactly what to send in the petition. :) Good luck!

I'm the beneficiary.

Yes, check out those links provided by Hollyday above as to what documents are required for the initial I-130 filing.

Some of the documents that you listed will only be needed at the NVC stage and at the interview.

Good luck!

Hi guys,

I am a USA citizen and I am filling a petition for my wife and my son, all of us are Mexican, but I born here in the USA.

We got married in Mexico a few months ago and we have a lot of questions!

Can someone tell me if the paperwork that I have is the right one?

-Form 1-30, one for my wife, one for my son. I have to send it separated or together? I have to pay 420 for each application or 420 for both? - I-130 for each person immigrating. Separate Fee for each form per person immigrating.

-Form G-325A, one for me, one for my wife and one for my son - Your son does NOT need a G-325a

-I-864, just for me as the main sponsor - not needed at this time

-Form I-134, I also ask two joint sponsors to help me, so they are filling this form, is this correct? - No. I-134 is never used for a spousal visa. It would be an I-864 and is not needed at this time

-DS-230 Part I and II, one for my wife, one for my son and one for me, is this correct? - not needed at this time.

-Form G-1145, to receive updates about my status - this can be helpful but only provides the initial Notice of Action update. You have sign up on the USCIS website to receive any further updates.

- missing 1 passport style photo of you and one of your wife

We also have:

-Birth certificates of the 3 of us, original and copy - Need photocopy of petitioner's birth certificate (if USC by birth). You can add a copy of your wife's and you will need a copy of your son's for his separate package.

-Copy of my US passport - not needed if birth certificate shows citizenship.

-Copy of the Mexican passport of my wife and son - pendant - not needed at this time.

-Marriage certificate, original and copy - just a photocopy. One each in your wife's petition package and in your son's petition package.

-Bank statements of both countries - good for evidence if both names are on the account

-IDs of both countries in my case and one country in the case of my wife and son - not needed

-Two letters of people who know us well and knows that our relationship is true - this is fine

ALL THE DOCUMENTS ARE TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH AND CERTIFIED BY A TRANSLATOR

-Pictures of us, when we were single, when she was pregnant, with our son - good to include - use many throughout the years and you can print this on regular paper vs printed photos if you choose. Include photos with family and friends as well. remember to label all the photos

- also try to include any other proof you have lived together, bills, co-mingling of any resources, leases, mortgage etc...

I DON'T HAVE:

-Taxes information, I born in the USA, but my parents took me back to Mexico when I was a baby, I never lived here before.

Thanks a lot for your help, we are waiting the passports of my wife and son to bring the first package, I am going to keep you in the loop!

Re-read the guides, both the I-130 instructions and the VJ guide. You do not need some of these documents right now.

Thank you, guys!

We have everything! My wife is going to send me the photographs and the I-30 signed and we are going to be ready to send all the paperwork, well, the firts part.

It is okay if we put the fingerprint on my son I-30? He is 3 months old and I suspect that he doesn't know how to write yet...or, my wife or I have to sign on his behalf?

Gracias!

Hi guys, thanks for all your answers, it helps a lot.

I want to let you know (and see if someone else is having the same problem) that I sent everything they ask me for, I didn't receive any letter asking for more information or letting me know that something was wrong.

They send me a letter with my case number and the code that allow me to see how my case is going...the thing is, that they received my package on September 6th, and everytime I check the status it says that they are in "Initial Review".

I am getting desperate, it's 4 months without more information, without seeing my wife and son.

Do you have any idea of what is happening, is this normal, someone else had the same issue, it is okay for me to call them and ask what's going on?

Any information would be great!

Thanks a lot!
