Hi my name is Laura. I am a US citizen living in Israel and I am working on the I-130 package for my husband. My husband has posted here and your answers have been immeasurably helpful. I have sort of a silly question. We have assembled our documents together and made photocopies and are hoping to send them soon. My question is, is there a specific way to label all these documents? Name, date, what the document is, what it is in connection to? Sorry if this is silly I just really want to get it right the first time. Thank you all so much!

Use big paper clip or binder clip to keep the documents together. One or both of your names is already on all the documents, right?

As far as i remember, the guide here says to lightly pencil the name of the person in the passport photo in the back of it.

I'm the beneficiary.

Like pushbrk mentioned, writing the names of petitioner and beneficiary along with their DOBs on the top of every page is a good idea. :) This way if a paper gets mislaid, it can hopefully be returned to your file!

Actually, I didn't say that at all. I said one or both names is already on all the actual documents submitted. Yes, follow the instructions and print the full name of the person in each passport photo, on the back of each, lightly enough not to damage the photo.

Misinterpreted, apologies.

In my personal opinion, and I think Darnell has stated it as well, I think that putting names on all the additional documents, if they're not already on there, is a good idea.

Can you think of some examples of a document you might include that wouldn't already have either the petitioner or beneficiary's name on it already?

Photos, evidence like emails or skype or texting where there is often just a first name or a "username", if the passport is used then the pages except the bio data page generally don't have the name of the person on them. Photocopies of the passport pages showing visits.

General documents like divorce decrees, marriage certificate etc... normally have the petitioner's name on it, yes.
