AoS - Surprise!

Paul and I filed for AoS on Sept. 17, 2012. I fretted and fretted that I had left out something. It had been quite a long time and we'd heard nothing. Nada. I half expected to get an RFE. Paul called on May 28, 2013 since we hadn't heard. They told him that his case had been transferred to Atlanta Field Office and to call back in 15 days if he hadn't heard anything. He didn't hear anything so he called back on June 18th. They told him he should have waited to call back after 30 days, but that since he'd called in May they had put in an Action Notice. "Call back in 15 more days if you haven't heard anything, but I doubt you'll be calling back. You should get something in the mail soon", he said. So we waited expecting to get a notice to appear for an interview since the case had been transferred to our local field office.

To our pleasant surprise on Friday the USCIS ordered production of Paul's 2 year conditional green card - with no interview! He got the card in the mail yesterday! Yay!!!!

Congrats! It took you the same amount of time as me to get approved without interview. Now enjoy your free USCIS 2 years vacations . P.d : I got my drivers license with my EAD (work permit) and it was granted for 10 month. Once I got my gc went back and updated my immigration status and the DMV gave me a new one valid for 8 years :) I did the same with my SSN.

you don't have to wait until your DL expires, as long as you have your GC in hand, you can go whenever you want and have it updated.

People adjusting from k1 visa (fiance visa) like the OP and me, we have the chance to get our gc without interview

HAHAHAHAHA! I totally understand you, Miami is the same thing! But the thing is that the DMV doesn't give you the DL in the moment, they give you a paper and you need to wait at least a month to get the new permanent one. Just take that in consideration...good luck

Hopefully we don have to wait that long and will get GC without interview...we filed AOS from K1 on the 15th March 2013, received EAD and AP in june/july, so fingers cross..
