RFE for passport photo size

As i was looking at my duplicate petition that i have in hand for possible reasons why i have gotten an RFE i noticed(which i should have before) that the passport photos of my fiance are smaller than the ones i have for me.

So i did some research on VJ and USCIC about this and i found a couple of answers, but they are conflicting.

VJ says that the photos must be 2 inches x 2 inches with certain specifications for placing of the face in the picture;

USCIC instructions for the 129F just say that there should be about 1 inch from bottom of chin to top of head, says nothing about actual size of the photo.

so my question is which is it? and has anyone gotten an RFE for this and what was the requirement??

RFE for size of photos on the petition?

Nah. Not for slight size difference.

Maybe if you decided to provide some 8.5x11 glamor shots lmao.

Our initial photos were sent at canadian size which is larger than 2x2.

I believe the ones you provide for CR1/IR1 interview are the ones that are on your green card and should be the proper 2x2 size.

But.... You're a K1, so that doesn't apply to you.

it's always been my understanding that they have to be 2x2, US style passport photos. I went to a specialist photographer to get mine done. I wanted to be on the safe side though, not sure if I'd have RFE'd for a UK passport photo.

It says your head should be "about one inch" high.

As long as you follow that rough rule, then you're fine.

Because the rest of the picture could be cut down properly if really needed, then.

Some are usually smaller though. US passport photos are a lot more zoomed in and larger than UK ones. Standard UK ones are small so they probably wouldn't have fit. Not sure about the standard size in OP's country, though.

Yes... I suppose it would make sense to get an RFE for them being too small.

And OP does indicate 'my fiance are smaller than the ones i have for me' but not sure how much smaller.

OP how big are each of the photos?

Get a ruler, yeah?

my photos are 2x2, but his are 2in high by about 1 and 1/2 in wide.

and his follows the inch head requirement, and mine is a little bigger than 1 inch/

so im just really wondering if that could be what my RFE is for......

or could be for..........

quick question, do they have to be printed or can i (foreign fiance) send my photos electronically to my fiance who is filing on my behalf? trying to save time on the time scale. UK post to US can be 2-3 weeks.

does anyone have any experience with this?

What I have seen happen at the consulate over the years:

People sent away with European style passport pics instead of American.

People sent away for not having the right composition on the picture.

People sent away for not having the right lighting.

people sent away for having an incorrect background.

Personally I have had pictures that were just a fraction to small but were still accepted.

There appears to be some discretion, but that can go either way. Personally, after my first to the consulate many years ago, I decided it wasn't worth it and I got new pictures every time.

Just don't have them done at Riteaid. My fiance did this for his passport and they didn't take them right and he had to have them redone at the post office.
