I filed an I-130 for my spouse. On the USCIS website, the only location option I am given is the Vermont service center for a processing time estimate, but I am reading here that I-130s are being transfered to local field offices. Which is it? If it is the local field office, then is the processing time estimate given for the Vermont office meaningless?

correct.. throw out the estimated time line

between 1 and 3 months it will be transferred

asking when something will happen in the future (here or at uscis) is a total waste of time

after 6 weeks, check in with uscis and see if you petition was transferred.. when and where .. if they don't have that info yet, give up and call back in two weeks and continue to do so if you so feel

if/when you get transferred sit back and wait for the full five months before you start any other actions.. your office is a little busy

Since late last year all I-130 petitions go to NBC (national Benefits center in Summit , Missouri). From there they go to your local office. Some have stayed at NBC but the majority local offices.

Forget vermont.

Thanks guys. So 5 months from the date it gets to the field office, not the date that I got my NOA1?

naw.. five months from noa1 not from the transfer.. if you hit five months.. start your complaints

I don't recommend complaining until 6 months from NOA1 to be honest. It really depends on the local office and the speed at which they move at.
