Favorite Tax Software

Hi all,

Just wondering if you have a favorite tax software package. Last year, I found the H&R Block product seemed to ask a few more questions along this line (interntional income, etc.) than TurboTax. Just looking for opinions, not detailed tax advice....But you cna give me detailed tax advice if you want to!

We used Turbo Tax, but filed by post as we had to include a signed page stating that we wanted me to be recognised as a Permanent Resident for tax purposes.

It let us fill out our 1040 (married filing jointly) and our 2555(foreign income earned tax exclusion) forms.

I like the Intuit/Turbotax.

did you know about the free online filing?

remember if you can next year.. .. .

go to the IRS.gov website.. there is listed for each region a amount of free or lowcost programs.

criteria is if you make less than $50K .. you are elegible to use.

I forgot all about it.. was doing the Turbotax.. and when i found out i had to pay tax + $69 for software and $30 to electronically file.... augh.. my little lightbulb went off.. .. hey wait i said.. i thought it was free..

then i relooked.. and entered via IRS.gov.. same site..

and it you enter that way . you dont have to purchase the software.. . ..

and best of all... it cought a error. i did.. .. instead of having to pay $650... i only have to pay $62 and even get a few hundred back from state... whoaaaa. yahooo..

It's so easy to do it...without paying.

Use Turbo Tax...print out the page they WOULD file and then fill in the pages from the IRS and MAIL them in.

Quick, free, easy! Plus if you are filing married joint you have to send in the signed page that MAND mentioned anyway
