It's the documentary that audiences and film critics are eating up.

In a covert six-month mission to expose the inside world of school lunches, 11-year-old Zachary Maxwell made "Yuck: A 4th Grader's Documentary About School Lunch" when he was a fourth-grader at a New York City public school.

Armed with hidden cameras, the precocious filmmaker went undercover to document dozens of lunches he was served at school.

During Zachary's investigation, he compared descriptions of lunch items on the school-provided menu with secretly recorded video of what he was actually being served.

"It sounded like it was coming from the finest restaurant, but what we were actually getting served, it wasn't too good," Zachary told

I don't agree for this fact:

When an adult gets lousy service or have a bad experience they can seek to have it remedied by simply writing an email to the provider, writing their representatives or starting a petition on WhiteHouse.gov In short they can voice their concern and thus create a check and balance where there is none.

As far as school lunches the kids are treated like cattle and are pretty much forced to eat meals that prisoners wouldn't eat.

I pay for my kids lunch and I stopped allowing them school lunches. Primarily because they serve pure cr@p at school. The issue is that most student's received free or reduced lunch, so their voice means very little. I complained to the school and the district and their answer always was "their hands were tied". You'd literally be better off nutritionally taking them to McDonald's every day verses the school lunch that's served.

I'm really glad that this child did this, because companies are getting fat off the government and the kids pay the price. Maybe he can do some good with this...I really hope so.

You are right lot of these lunches are free or subsidized but what stood out for me was, how the school admin was deceiving kids and parents by publish menus that looks and sounds awesome and what children are fed is as you said worst than prison food.
