As I sit here and grow frustrated as I see filers that got sent to CSC being processed to almost 01-2013, and the VSC continues to drone on and not even be processing into 12-2012, I noticed something on USCIS site about my case. I received my NOA1 on 1-24-2013, but on 1-31-2013, they updated the website and sent me a text message stating this:

On January 31, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

Can someone tell me what this means?

- Jeff

NOA1 is a receipt confirming they have received your case. This message means your case has been entered into the system and the beneficiary has been assigned an Alien Registration Number, nothing to worry about. :) Good Luck on your journey

I received the same thing about a week after I got my text/email NOA1 notification. It's just saying that the Alien Registration Number has been assigned (I don't know why they say "changed" since you didn't have one before - must just be a boilerplate thing). It doesn't mean they're actually processing your file.

So how can you find out if they are actually processing your file? I sent in everything I could think of. Between all the forms and pictures, it was like 200 total pages. I have my congressman working on it, but haven't heard anything there.... They told me it could take 4-6 weeks for the appropriate agency to respond....

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You can't. The NOA1 to NOA2 is a black hole of waiting with no rhyme or reason. My NOA1 date was a week or so before yours and I got the NOA2 a week or so ago (see my sig below). I was processed at CSC within 5 months but sadly there are people prior to me still waiting at CSC and plenty more of your fellow travellers at VSC.

Were you one of the ones that was transfered out of Vermont to Texas? Even then, like me, you are still within the normal processing time. Which right now at Vermont is 5.5 months, but they can still technically take up to almost the 6th month and still be in the 5 month range. Until your petition is outside the processing time your congressmen can't do much more then ask about it. If you are now in Texas, they have started to approve petitions but there is no processing time for them. I was told by my Senator's office last week that it should be done within 45 days, and if not to recontact them.

As another poster said, the NoA1 to NoA2 is a black hole and there isn't much you can do while you wait. Though it's not a bad thing to have your case known by your congressmen/senator for when the time comes that it is out of the processing window. Best of Luck on gathering your information, and hope we see our approvals soon.

I received my NOA1 on 12-18-2013 and it was sent to Vermont and then our case was transfered on 05-29-2013 to Texas, it seems that USCIS it is approving NOA1 cases from December... Check this link :)http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?cfl=
