Hello Friends,

We received our NOA2 about 1 week ago, so we are very happy about that!

As we are preparing the DS-156, etc. documents, now we have many questions...

1. We were under the impression that my fiancee and her child would be able to do the interview at the nearest consulate, which is Tijuana. Now I'm reading on here that interviews are only done in Juarez. Is this really true?

2. Can the pre-interview medical exams be done at any of the civil surgeons listed on the locator on the USCIS website? Or does the exam have to be done by a doctor specified by the consulate?

3. If the location of the exam is done by doctor specified by the consulate? How do we schedule the appointment and can we schedule it in advance of receiving our first packet from the consulate?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Best Regards,

Lety and Ed

someone else will have to chime in about the interview..

with the medical..

any panel physician listed

contact the physician directly to see what they want, some will take just the nvc case number, others will need an interview letter

1. Yes, only Juarez issues those types of visas.

2. No. A civil surgeon is used in the US. Panel physicians conduct the visa medical exams in the foreign countries. There are only 2 medical clinics to use. They are in Juarez near the consulate.

3. You do not make an appointment. You show up early in the morning and wait in line. You will return later that afternoon to pick up your sealed up envelope with the results that you will take to your interview.

Here is how it works for Juarez:

You need to get your CDJ case #, invoice # and beneficiary ID # from the NVC before you can fill out the DS-260 by calling 603-334-0700

Juarez will send the USC and the beneficiary in Mexico a letter. Sometimes the letter does not reach the person in Mexico because of the crappy mail system there. If the only one that receives it is the USC, it can be mailed or scanned and emailed and printed out by the beneficiary in Mexico. It does not have to be the original.

The letter you receive points you to the sites where the instructions, forms and place to schedule your appointment and interview is. The letter is the only 'packet' you will receive. You should go to the links(which I am posting below) listed in the letter. The letter will be needed by the K-1 applicant at their ASC, medical and interview in Juarez, along with the confirmation page from the DS-260.

Here are the forms: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html

instructions (very important to follow and they explain a lot): http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/packetk1may.pdf

schedule ASC: http://mexico.usvisa-info.com

and CDJ info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez

While waiting, you can read through the reviews to see how the procedure works and what documents were needed by others applying for a K-1: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Mexico&cty=&dfilter=5

Ughhh! This is all really unexpected. I wish I'd had this information a few months ago. I even went on the Tijuana consulate site and the documentation on there led me to believe that we might be able to take care of everything there.

What I really find interesting, is that it says in the instructions that you referred me to that children 2 to 14 years old, need to have the medical examination AT LEAST FOUR DAYS PRIOR to the scheduled appointment.

It is going to be really costly and difficult for us to travel to Juarez and now it sounds like we would have to spend a week in a hotel there.

Has anyone with minor children applying for a K2 actually had to do this four day in advance medical exam?

Hi Kay,

What is the "Invoice#"?

And is the beneficiary ID# the same thing as the "A### ### ###" that was shown above the beneficiary's name on the NOA2?

Thank you,

Ed

The invoice and beneficiary ID numbers are needed to fill out the online form, DS-260. The NVC provides you the case #, invoice# and beneficiary ID. It is not the same as the A#.

Hello Friends,

I'm still really wondering if we are going to have to wait in Juarez for four days following the Medical for my Fiancee's minor son. We will hopefully have our interview scheduled soon. I have pretty much figured if we have to be there for four day then so be it, we'll make the most of it. What I just don't understand is why the four day wait? Why is there a four day wait following the medical for a child while the wait following the medical for an adult seems to be same day or next day?

Thank you,

Ed

Yes, children get the actual TB testing done and it takes time for the results. Adults just get same-day chest x-rays done.

Because children have to undergo a TB test, that´s why

Ah ha, O.k. Thank you for the explanation.
