Amended Tax Return and N400

Hi VJ's

I'm planning on applying for my citizenship based on marriage. My tax return from 2010 I had it ammended (as you guys recommended) because my husband filed it married filing separately, his accountant told him at that time I did not need to file taxes because I was not working, (wrong) but thank God we got it fixed. For 2011 and 2012 I got the transcripts from IRS but I did not request transcripts for 2010 because transcripts "do not contain cahnges made to the return" like amendments. So for 2010 I have the 1040X form attached to the 1040, and my questions are:

1. Since the document checklist says we need to send copies of all documents, should I just copy all the 30 ages of my amended 2010 Tax Return and mail them?

2. Are fotocopies of the transcripts ok or I have to send originals (They do not look much different)?

3. My name is not in the mortgage of the house but we have a joint bank account is that enough?

4. Should I include maybe a copy of the phone and electricity/gas bill (Both names on them) like we did for ROC?

Your help is always appreciated

Thanks

1. Yes, photocopies are fine.

2. Photocopies are fine. Keep the tax transcripts you got from IRS for your own records.

3. Yes, send photocopies of your joint bank statements (random).

4. Yes, include photocopies of any utility bills that has both of your names & address.

The 1040x attached to the 2010 transcript would do it. If you mean the re-do return you worked out to see the changes in numbers so you could fill out the 1040x, then I don't think that is meant to be sent. Even the IRS doesn't want that.

30 pages is a lot of pages. Are you sure it is all tax return? If it says "worksheet" or "summary" or "Thank you for using TurboTax" at the top, that is for your information. IRS return pages generally are called Form xxxx or Schedule x. It could be 30 pages, but sometimes print outs give you a lot of junk pages.

Three months spread out over a year or two (depending on how far back your records/bank transactions online go) should be sufficient. For example: March '11, December '12, April '13 demonstrate you have a bona fide relationship within the three year period generally requested. If you have activity or paperwork you can show back three years, then by all means, include it. The goal is not to do just one page with your names jointly on it from three months ago. Maybe multiples are excessive, but if it fits in the envelope, fantastic.

For utility bills, try one month per bill and spread them out if you can. Like; cellular phone May '13, water February '13, electricity September '11, etc.

Are people really sending utility bills too? I did all that for the I-751. He has a 10 year green card already. Why would I need to send utility bills again?
