Large corporations like Walmart and Federated Department Stores always get hurt when the poor are hurt.

Yeah, the Waltons will make a billion less next year...that's gonna really hurt the yaht business.

Are you kidding me...they will just cut workers hours and hire another sweatshop in Bangladesh.

You guys are brainwashed at birth.

Worst example ever...lol

Wow, so anybody who doesn't immediately agree with you is brainwashed. You're so incredibly moderate.

Walmart isn't the Waltons. Walmart is the shareholders. You should listen more, and speak less. You might learn a thing or two.

I agree. It also keeps them from being warehoused in federal prisons, committing crimes to survive and educates their children and potentially stops the cycle of poverty. All for less than the criminal justice system cost over a lifetime of one person. Its common sense, not charity.

Sorry no. What it does is teach people they can lay on their a$$ and reproduce, and the govt. will take care of them no matter how irresponsible they are.

When your ideas come out in a stream of talking points then you just might be brainwashed.

I tend to think for myself, which has nothing to do with a political party.

You tend to try to find a label to hang on someone. For what reason I have no idea.

Sorry no. What it does is teach people they can lay on their a$$ and reproduce, and the govt. will take care of them no matter how irresponsible they are.

Yes, everyone lays on their @ss in the eyes of those who hate any form of social program. Great way to generalize millions of people.

Oh...so the Shareholders will make a few "million" less...sorry, you were so right about everyone taking a hit with that example.

That's funny...

OK, so you're the only allowed to generalize. Understood.

Some yes. No doubt. Some will use it to back on their feet. Some, likely need it in perpetuity (mentally handicapped). The real argument at hand has always been, how many will it help for how many will abuse it and what's that worth to us as tax payers as well as what really motivates people to make positive choices for their life.

Um, I generalized who? Those responding with the same lame GOP let the poor die in the streets mindset? If that's the case, yes, guilty.

You got me...

The only reason the label issue is brought up is because you (laughably) labeled yourself as a moderate; yet your posts seem like they were written by Rachel Maddow. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And then, if anybody disagrees with you at all, you think they must be a brain washed right winger.

But continue to believe what you want.

you don't read what you post before hitting 'add reply' do you?

If there was a point to that reply I'm sorry to say I missed it.

I argue that simply giving people money for doing nothing for long periods of time is actually hurting that person rather than helping them. I agree with you that their should be a safety net for people that fall on hard times. That safety net should come with conditions. Conditions that will help them be self sufficient in the future so that they wont have to go on the dole again. Either getting some training or doing some kind of work that is beneficial to society as a whole.

Sitting around generating future welfare recipients while watching Jerry Springer re-runs should not be considered "getting back on your feet"

Just because I'm not a Republican, doesn't automatically mean I'm a liberal.

I believe in things that make sense. Social programs make sense. Not idiotic boot strap ideology that only works in the pages of fiction novels.

The GOP utopian world is a nightmare, but it sounds great to you guys for some reason.
