Kim Jong Un is visiting the Myohyangsan Children's Camp in North Phyongan Province on Sunday, where, according to KCNA, he told the children that building the camp was important for realizing the "lifelong desire of the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, who did everything for the children as their tender-hearted fathers." Along with touring the camp and visiting with children, Kim also listened to the North Korean camp songs "We Are the Happiest in the World," and "General to Front while Children to Camps."

Sorry, I just can't see things like this and read "We Are the Happiest in the World" and not think of this skit:

If that were really true, the Kims would be out of power by now.

Is that so? How did the Berlin wall stick around for 40 years?

Just to pre-empt this: I know that the wall itself wasn't around for 40 years - Germany was divided after World war 2 for that long, however.

My point is, there have to be at least some people who truly believe in the Kims.

There are some of those, of course. And then there are plenty of opportunists. The latter are what's keeping the Kims in power. Open North Korea up and the opportunists will be the first ones out the door. Again, trust me, I've seen it.

The kids are emotional because they have been raised to genuinely think that the Kim family is great beyond anything. If you put a devout Christian next to Jesus, you'll probably see the same reaction.

Yup, concur. That's how it's been for almost 3 generations now...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
