Hello Vjers,

Hope everyone is having a good day. I have a question and hope I can get right answers here. My fiance booked me a flight thru Japan airlines for June 15, its says Manila to Narita and then a 4-hr lay over and then Haneda- SFO. Since I will be transferring airports, do I need to file a transit visa? Is this something I need to file now while Im here in PH or will that be available in Narita.

Did anyone here had that kind of experience. Please share and help me. Im kinda nervous because I will travelling alone.

Looking forward to your responses.

Razel

Moving from K1 Process & Procedures to Philippines regional forum; topic is not about the K1 process itself.

**Organizer hat off**

Contact the airline and see if they can make any arrangements for you.

Yes, you will need a transit visa to transfer from Narita to Haneda Airport. You will need that before you leave Manila.

Check here for requirements: http://www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp/visiting/new%20visa/transit.htm

Good luck!

How long is your overall layover in Japan? I've had layovers in Narita and Nagoya a couple of times, and a transit visa wasn't required each time. What they do require is for people to go through security again before going to their respective departure gates.

The OP has to change airports.

I suggest to call them and ask. Will you be on the same airline? When you google it, Haneda is more than one hour away from Narita, so make sure you check-in early for all flights.

You don't need a transit visa as long as you are on a confirmed ticket and not a standby ticket. The airline takes care of everything. If for some reason the flight is cancelled and they would need to put you up in a hotel, tbey would arrange for your visa. This is an agreement between Japan and major airlines. Best to call the airline so you get the answer yourself if you're worried about it.

If your flying standby, meaning you have a buddy pass or a cheap standby ticket from an employee at the airline, you absolutely need a transit visa..

Hey everyone,

Super thanks for all the responses. So i went to Japan airlines yesterday to ask or maybe try to rebook the flight and make it Narita to SFO, the lady said i dont need a transit visa, when i get to Narita I will ask for a shore pass so I can go out of Narita and to Haneda. japan airlines doesnt have any direct flights from Narita to SFO, all flights are being directed to Haneda to SFO. She said transit visa is only applicable if I will be staying for 24hrs and more.

I just moved from the Tokyo area after being stationed there for four years and I've made the trip to Narita and Haneda many times. One serious issue you need to look into is transportation between the two airports. With light traffic it could take two hours at best to transit. Add that with time it takes to get your pass through immigration, get your luggage, find WHERE your transportation starts and then the check-in process at Haneda you're going to be cutting it extremely tight. I would suggest calling the airline and see if they arrange travel for the airport change. If not, the only way I see you will make it will be to take the Narita Express to Haneda. You'll have to be quick but you can make it. Ask for help inside the airport at a customer service desk. Once you go down the escalator to the train station hardly any one speaks english.

Or you could just re-route your flight with a POE in Seattle so you don't have to change airports.
