Actually you will get as far as the Embassy with her. She will have to enter the Embassy all by herself and go thru the entire process with you waiting for her outside---and this is after spending all that time and money to get there. Unless the PI is different. The Consulate in Almaty does not even let USC in unless you are there for a specific reason and usually you need to call them in advance to make an appointment.

So she will still attend the interview alone. She will still have to navigate the process within the Embassy alone. You will have to endure the waiting alone outside the Embassy. After presenting this to her, ask her how your traveling there will help. Save the money and spend it on a nice trip once she is in the USyes.gif .

Good luck and she will be fine,

Dave

The Philippine Embassy allows the petitioner to attend the interview and if fact go through the entire process with the beneficiary. In some cases where there are potential red flags having the petitioner there seems to make a difference.

If your fiance is not from Manila or has never been in a large city before I can fully understand her anxiety. If she has friends or family members in Manila that can help her get around and spend time with her before the interview that will help a lot. Personally I couldn't imagine not having been at my wife's interview. In the end they questioned me more than her which took a lot of pressure off of my wife.

I wish you both the best of luck. (BTW, prepare her well in advance for northeast Ohio weather. We got back to Ohio in the middle of January and the shock nearly killed her.)

My fiancee is/was the same way. She is getting a little better now...she had read a post that someone had trouble at the interview, and made her think that it will be her having trouble next.

Here is something I found on Visa Journey, that might reassure her a little:

How often are the K1 visa applications denied?
A..In reading posts from the newsgroup, not often. The K1/K2 visa application process is handled by the US State Department through the US Consulates. USCIS (INS) is not involved at this stage. It is assumed the fiance(e) meets the requirements for medical test, police records, etc. The newsgroup has experienced denials based on failure to disclose a prior minor criminal offense, and failure to disclose a visa overstay during a previous visit to the US. It wasn't the necessarily the minor crime or the overstay that caused the denial, but in both cases, the applicants did not admit to them.
If you have some sort of past problem, you will have a better chance at getting the K1 visa if you are honest and forthright. In early 1999, a UK man received a K1 despite past minor criminal problems, and he attributed his success to his total honesty. Depending on the particular reason for denial, a waiver may be available.

Feeling nervous is a normal reaction, but panicking in advance and imaging worst scenarios is not. Best thing the beneficiary can do for themselves is to relax the day before the interview, not to skip breakfast in the morning before heading for the interview and breathe and keep calm. Body language speaks volumes. If the beneficiary is extremly tense, nervous and sweating, how would the consul interpret it? Just keep your calm, go, answer the questions honestly and straightforwardly and EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE! :) :)
