I am a U.S. citizen working in Hong Kong and I married my wife in April. She is from the Philippines and is working here. Here is what is in my I-130 package which I'm sending off this week:

Cover letter stating my purpose and contents of package

check for payment

I-130

G325A for me

G325A for her

copies of every page of my U.S. passport to show citizenship

copy of marriage certificate

photos of us from April 2012 until present (about 15 total)

copies of receipts from when I visited her in Macau last year multiple times

copies of receipts for the wedding reception

passport-style photos of myself and my wife

I don't have affidavits. Do I need them now?

And I am using my current address on all forms except where it clearly asks for my U.S. address (intended place to live in the States).

How's that sound? Any advice? I need to stop stalling and mail this off.

Thanks everyone.

Here is our I-130 package and how it was assembled.

G1145 E Notification

$420 filiing fee

Table of contents

I-130

G325A w/passport photo

G352A w/passport photo

Copy of my passport (I only made a copy of my bio page)

Marriage Cert w/translation

A few reciepts for major items (ring, wedding fees etc)

Thats it. We didnt use or include any affadavits and we used our address abroad on all forms. Except where it asks where we will live in the USA, we put our USA address there. We also kept a copy of everything we sent in as advised in other posts in the forum. We mailed it off and it was accepted about a week later. Good luck with your journey!

Thanks so much. For anything I sign, and for the marriage certificate, I'm going to make a physical copy. For the pages with pictures and the other stuff, I'll keep a copy on my computer. Is that good enough?

I forgot to mention, you should only send copies (ex marriage cert) and keep all origional copies. You should be good to store the pics on your computer. We sent a few pics in and we have the origionals on a memory card. But the ones we sent we dont expect to get back. Its ok though, it was less than $1 to print them out.

I embedded them in Word files. Seemed easier that way and it seems like others have done that. I guess I was being too literal about "copy" when I read others' posts. I won't have an exact duplicate of the entire package but I will have everything that went into it, whether a copy, or on my computer, or the original.

I have the saved PDF formats of all documents we sent as well. The only reason we made duplicates of what we actually sent is in case something happens to the computer then we have a hard copy. But as long as you know what you send and have access to it then you should be fine. I think its more of a comfort thing smile.png

Do you have a joint bank account, joint lease, car insurance, bills to the same house with both your names, or anything showing co-mingling of assets? It's not required but it is good evidence. Life insurance showing the spouse as the beneficiary is also good. Affidavits are really low on the evidence scale so aren't needed. You also do not need a copy of your wife's birth certificate at the USCIS stage unless its specifically asked for.

Thanks everyone.

I added in a copy of an e-mail from HK immigration addressed to both of us in relation to my wife's application to be my dependent here (until we go back to America).

So do I have enough for my I-130? I have 19 photos which span a year.
