Still waiting for Russian police report

My fiancee requested a police report in her hometown in Russia nearly eight weeks ago, I was not expecting such a long wait. I would like to hear comments from others that have gone through this process in Russia and get your experience to see if this is common or if there might be a problem.

My wife says one to two months is normal. If the person moved around then it could take longer.

What I've noticed from reading other forum for Russian immigrants while going through K-1 process, waiting time for police certificate depends from local police office in the city you're requesting it. Seems like in fairly big cities it takes about a month, in small towns it might take few times longer. It's like some people here were advising to give some bribe to do it faster - I can't even imagine how I would do it in my city if I would need to speed it up - people who were accepting applications don't even deal with actual processing and you're not alone with them either, because it was few dozens of applicants waiting around. When I submitted application for certificate, I was told to come back exactly 1 month later (on the same day) with the receipt I got (there was unique number of my request), and a month later I presented receipt at the same office and got a certificate out of huge pile of them. So it was nothing hard and I was told when it will be ready. The only problem was - I had to wait in the long queue both times, like for an hour or even longer.

In Krasnoyarsk, it took about a month... but my Fiance has lived there for over 20 years... If you have lived in several cities, expect the time from to be about a month for each city...... honestly, 8 months seems like an excessive time..... did you call the police to ask??

It's a little bit different, so not like "a month for each city". Applicant making request at the city of current residence and making a list of cities she/he had been living in before. Then police of current city sending requests to all stated cities at the same time, so all of the cities are processing request at the SAME time, not one AFTER another. When all of the requests to other cities completed and responded, police office of current city issing full report. It may take the same 1 month in summary if all of the cities will respond withing this standart range, but if one or few cities will take more time to respond, then report can not be issied until they ALL will respond. So if you changed your residence a lot in Russia it may delay report (chance to get a "slow" city in your list is bigger), but not necessary and definitely you shouldn't summarize amount of cities giving a month for each one.

My fiancee filed for her's about two weeks ago and they told her a month it would be done. She lives in a pretty good sized city and has live there for many years so maybe that's why? I hope it doesn't take two months.

My Fiancee is in Saint Pete and it took a month to get her notice for it. Now since she is in a bigger city it took her 2 days to physically pick it up. The first time she got there a little later in the day, from when they opened, and while she waited they closed before she got hers. So she went back another day, much earlier, and had no problems.

My finacee lives in St Petersburg too and thought the report would take 2 weeks and just discovered it takes a month. This may rush her departure some if we stick with the original plan of mid-July which may result in her leaving just days after her visa arrives.

Can anyone provide some feedback about this bribe thing? In USA, offering an official a bribe is a quick ticket to jail! Is there an amount that is non-offending? is any amount acceptable to offer? is the amount haggled? can you bluntly ask "what would it take to have my request moved to the top of the pile?" Do you have to offer the bribe very sneaky, such as folded in a note and handed off during a handshake?

There is no bribe.....only some consideration. No one can tell you how to do that. If she doesn't know how, then best left to other friends or family members who know how.
