Philippine Travel Tax - Pay every time you leave?

My wife (then fiancee) paid the travel tax when she left the Philippines for the USA the first time in 2009. She didn't think she paid it when she left after visiting in 2010.

She is there now and is returning to the US in 10 days. She is still a citizen of the Philippines (US green card holder). Will she have to pay the travel tax when she returns?

Most of the time, it is already included in the airline ticket prices. If the airline crew did not tell her to pay at the airport when she checked in, then it is included. Otherwise, they would not have allowed her to board the plane.

Green card holders are exempted from paying the travel tax. Suppose to pay only the Travel Tax Exemption of 200 pesos.

http://www.tieza.com.ph/pages-who-can-avail-of-travel-tax-exemption--reduced-rate-and-what-are-the-documents-required.php

Filipino permanent residents abroad whose stay in the Philippines is less than one (1) year.

1. Copies of the ID pages of passport and stamp of last arrival in RP
2. Proof of permanent residence in foreign country (e.g. US Green Card, Canadian form 1000, etc.)

How much is the travel tax? And is that the same as the terminal fee?

Travel Tax Fee is PHP 1,620 http://www.philippineconsulate.com.au/travel-tax.html

Terminal Fee is PHP 550 . No it is not the same. It is for the airport terminal.

Hi.. I just got back from my vacation in Philippines last week. I am green card holder and I paid 200 php for the tax and terminal fee is 550 php..

Correct! If you are a green card holder, just show them your card and they will be asking you to pay a small amount. My husband always pay less for that everytime we go out of the country.

Yes she would have to pay the travel tax. She should apply for her US Citizenship if she's been in the US for 3 years that way she won't have to pay the travel tax next time she goes back :) I believe its like 1k+ pesos for the travel tax and 550pesos for terminal fee.

That's not true! Green card holders are EXEMPTED from paying the Travel Tax if their stay is less than a year in the Philippines. Refer to the link: http://www.tieza.com.ph/pages-who-can-avail-of-travel-tax-exemption--reduced-rate-and-what-are-the-documents-required.php

True, if she is a naturalized US citizen, she won't pay Travel tax.

EVERYONE has to pay the Terminal Fee.

That explains why my travel tax was so much lower than Candy's (she went back to work in HK on the day I returned to New York). Now I understand.
