IR-5 both parents get interview individually or together?

Hi to the all. My parents are now in SLEC for the result of my Dad's sputum smear. Thank God it's negative. My Mom was cleared already, got her shots and now waiting in the Releasing Section when I was talking to her a few minutes ago. Dad's sputum culture result is not available not til July 6. I'm still waiting for a case complete and most probably get a 1st week of July interview dates for both parents. Are they gonna interview them together or individually? If ever we get a really early interview date, will Mom should go ahead with the interview? and Dad will follow after he is cleared in his medical? (They will go to the US at the same time.) Or there is still a possibility that they will be interviewed together? I plan on calling SLEC last week of June hoping they have the result by then. Fingers crossed...

Its best for mom to go ahead with her interview. Dad has to be cleared first before USEM will issue an interview date for him. They can leave together, provided its before the visa expiry date stamped on their visas.

Thanks for the quick reply. I called NVC an hour ago and asked about the status of the AOS checklist. Good thing they haven't reviewed them yet. I'm not in a hurry to get a case complete. I'm just really glad I asked my parents to do the medical early.

Just remember the visa validity date is tied to the medical date, so doing the medical early will give the visa a shorter validity time.

Yep. Mom's medical will expire on Oct. 3. And I believe Dad will get a 3 months med validity after the release of the culture result (hoping for a negative result) If both get their visas by July, they will leave early Sept. Hope everything works as planned.

I think it's better that your parents have the same interview appointment. If by chance NVC schedules your parents interview before your dad is cleared with his medical, You can reschedule their interview. Register in ustraveldocs site & you will see the available interview dates. That's what I did. My parents couldn't make it to the interview date (April 4th) that NVC has scheduled, so I rescheduled it a month away (May 2nd).

I have the same case with Aki.. My father already passed the medical with no problem but my mother needs to undergo the 3-days sputum smear test and wait for the result of the culture after 2 months. Their interview schedule is scheduled by NVC on July 10 and my father prefer to have their interview together with whenever my mother be scheduled.

I check the website http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph and select the immigrant button but I can't find anything where I can reschedule the interview. Your help will be appreciated.

I believe you need to make contact with NVC about rescheduling, I read of someone not long ago rescheduling (this was a CR-1, but just the same NVC schedules it) and the embassy would not honor the appointment they had re-scheduled. Just to be safe contact NVC first.
