Hi Guys,

So I am hopefully a day away from sending in the packet! One last question I have is with respect to the translations.

I had a chinese bank statement translated to English, as well as our wedding certificates.

1. The wedding certificate is actually a booklet, that was issued by the marriage registration office. It includes a photocopy of our wedding certificate, as well as a translation of the certificate. This booklet, is stamped and signed by the marriage office. They gave us 2 "copies" of the booklet, which both have the actual signature and stamp. Should I send one of the two identical booklets in, or should I photocopy the booklet, and send it in?

2. The bank statements, I will make a copy of, and send in. However, should I make a photocopy of the declaration of the translation company saying that they are a legitimate company and mail the original? Or should I mail the photocopy of the declaration and keep the original?

I know that it says to mail the photocopies, but I feel like these two scenarios might be a bit different than the general statement of not to send originals.

Thank you for the help!

Chinese Translations must all come from the local Notarial Office (Gong Zheng Chu). Neither USCIS, NVC or the Consulate will accept any other translation of a required Chinese document. The bank statement would PROBABLY be an exception.

The red book is taken to the Gong Zheng Chu for translation and will be returned intact. A Notarial Translation will be in a full A4 size booklet on shiny white paper.

For USCIS mail copies, for NVC they will need the originals. NVC will return originals at the interview. Best of luck!

Electronic Processing is available for cases in China (if that is in fact where the OP's spouse lives).
