So I may (if I'm lucky and can FINALLY be divorced this month) get to file my petition next month at last! But I've got a question (and likely many more soon): when do we have to file the document that proves I can sponsor Scott/have a cosponsor? Does that have to be filed with my initial petition, or later, when he files his papers? I'm concerned because I haven't gotten a good enough job yet to sponsor him and need one/need to find someone to cosponsor. If this doesn't have to be mailed with my petition it obviously gives me more time.

I'm terrified it will all go badly. We've waited so long....and still waiting for my divorce to happen. Sorry for rambling, he's currently flying back to the UK after his 4th visit here and it'll be August before I see him again....so I'm really down. : (

Yay! Thank you. At which stage in the filing process is that, though? His interview? Or after he's got the visa already? I'm hoping the whole process of getting him here is less than 9 months. : / Most estimates I've heard seem to be 5-7?

Be sure to have a look at the K-1 Guide and the flowchart to get an idea of where things fall into place. On timing, it definitely will take longer than 5-7 months in total (petition to visa). More realistic is it will be around 10 months to a year, assuming the current service center trends remain and that you don't have an RFE.

He will take the I-134 Affidavit of Support to his interview in London. Nobody will look at it, nor will you submit it before the interview. When he adjusts status (after the marriage) to get his greencard, you will provide another Affidavit of Support call the I-864.

Start reading this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/ and go by what UK people tell you because every consulate has a different procedure once your petition is approved and the file goes to the consulate stage.

Yes, at or just before the interview. A K1 used to take 5-7 months, but has taken longer recently- 9+ months is more realistic now.

: ( That's so disheartening. What causes the times to fluctuate? Any chance of it speeding up again?
