Hello everyone,

I've just realized that after I sent my paperwork to the UCIS, I put the wrong year on my Marriage Affidavit when me and my fiance met.

I put 2005 instead of 2006. I just want to shoot myself for making such a stupid mistake. I paid my immigration lawyer close to 2,000 bucks, and he didn't ieven catch my stupid mistake..

My question is, what is the process of submitting the Marriage Affidavit with the correct date on it? If I submit the updated Marriage Affidavit to the UCIS, will that put me in the back of the line again since I recieved my 1st NOA on october 12th?

I filed in the Nebraska center which of course got forwarded to the California service center

I appreciate everyones response on this,

May God bless everyone here,

Take care

"Marriage Affidavit" for K-1? I'm not familar with that.

Its a document that states how I met her, and my intention to marry her.

I put that we met in 2005 instead of 2006.

Bottom line is, can I submit updated information to the UCIS if they have not begun working on my case? And will this delay the process in any way?

thanks

In most cases, you are able to just submit a new copy of the statement along with a letter explaining the mistake. A fax may also be an option if they allow it. Call them to see what the best course of action is.

I think you are referring to the letter of intent that is required to prove you are free to marry. I would NOT send anything without it being requested. If they need something corrected/updated, they will send you an RFE. If you send something without being asked for it, chances are very high that it will never meet up with your file. I wouldn't worry about it.

It could, but a lot depends on how fast you reply regarding the mistake. If you jump on it right away, it shouldn't cause any measurable delay.

???? - it would never meet the file and why bother sending something unsolicited - it might not even be an issue.

What kitkat says is also a good idea. You may just want to wait until they ask for a correction.

Thanks,

I mean, I sent them the plane ticket stub copies, and they have my passport stamps that show when I arrived and when I left in feb 2006

I just put on the intent to marry form that we met in feb 2005, not 2006. I'm an idiot

the Letter of Intent. ok sorry I misunderstood. I don't think that wouldn't cause a problem since even with the mistake in date, you still are within the two year requirement. when time for interview, you can also send a letter to your fiancee reaffirming your commitment to marry her. you can send updated info to USCIS, but sometimes not connected to your file.

Thanks for everyone's quick replies,

So should I worry about this?

I put that we met online in may 2005, but then we physically met in feb 2005...

They have proof that I met her by means of my passport stamps and my plane tickets,

I know the embassy will try to find everything wrong with my fiance to deny her in Manila,

But at the UCIS, are they "instilled" to deny everything for every possible reason "Yet"?

My fiance is also from Davao

don't lose any sleep over it. I don't think it's that big of a problem.

My fiancee is also from Davao.

I also met my fiancee for first time in Feb 2005. maybe I saw you at Victoria Plaza. :D

Thanks,

I can't help but lose sleep over it. It's killing me not seeing her, I miss her so much. I'm just afraid this stupid mistake will arouse suspicion, and generate an RFE and delay it even more.

Suppose worst case scanario, and they request more evendence, how long will this delay my approval?

Sorry for being so paranoid, I am kicking myself for making such a stupid mistake.

It's a tiny mistake. If they do notice it, you'll get an RFE. You'll provide the corrected information and fed ex it back. They'll get it and continue processing.

It's not worth kicking yourself or losing sleep. It's a tiny tiny thing. You'll have plenty to worry about when it's time to get ready for the interview - rest up and relax now, while you can!
