I have a question about filling the re-entry permit. I have a conditional GC that expires by the end of this year, and i plan a trip overseas this summer so i want to apply for re-entry permit. Just wondering...on the part where it says to describe the purpose of the trip should i just write -- personal matter -- or should i put few more words explaining why?

Also at the part "class of admission" do i write permanent resident or is it referring to something else?

Thank you

You only need a re-entry permit if you are going to be outside the USA for longer than 6 months.

Class of admission is asking what you entered the USA on K-1 if you entered on a K-1. etc.

Make sure you are applying for your ROC on time.

Moved from K-1 process to traveling during immigration forums.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Ok .... what will happen if i have re-entry permit and not be able to apply for ROC in the said time frame?

This things do not depend on me ... i have to go and finish my masters studies so the dates are completely depending on my university and that is why i need to be there for a longer time.

Another thing ... will the fact that my GC expires in december affect the re-entry permit? Will they look at it from a different angle?

Its a really confusing situation ...but i dont want to drop off my masters. I am at the end of it so it will be a shame to loose it all.

thank u

Your reentry permit will expire in December when your GC does (read the fine print about these permits and conditional GCs). You must ROC on time or your LPR status will be terminated. It doesn't matter where you are in the world. You must be in the US to do your fingerprints as well.

Can i apply sooner for ROC ? I need to travel in july and i can apply for ROC by the end of september. Is there any chance i can i do this?

You can only apply 90 days before expiration of the card. That is all. Any sooner and you will be denied.

You would need to stay in the USA until you get your NOA 1 and leave after you have taken biometrics.
