Hello, I am now starting to prepare all the stuff for a K-1 visa. This is probably a simple matter but I don't want to do anything incorrectly. The instructions say make two copies of the entire packet. Does this mean I can copy the passport photos in a black and white copy machine or does it need to be a replica of the packet (Like I need to get 3 passport photos so I have one to send in and two for the copies).

Also for the proof that we met in the last two years, I can send a copy of the boarding passes and such? Do these need to be high quality color copies or can I just copy it in a normal copy machine?

Thank you

We used black and white copy machine for all the copies.. I think as long as they can see the dates on the boarding passes and on the passport stamps, then it's ok if you make a copy in black and white.

hi,

yes you have to make a replica of the entire packet so that you have a personal copy of it whenever there's something wrong happened to the original one (hope there's none.) It's fine even if it's just a normal photo copying machine as long as the information in it is clear and readable, but I suggest if you'll just scan and print it. You may include photos of you together, just make sure to put captions and dates in each photo. Good luck!

We just used a regular home printer. I think my fiance used color ink. We have everything saved on our computers as well as a USB stick so it can be printed again at any time. The only thing we didn't copy was the Passport photos, those you can just go and get new ones. Good luck

For our case, we put together our package of original documents and digital scans of things like passport pages and stamps. Once it was put together, we made 2 copies of the whole thing using a photocopier and scanner. So we sent off the one main package and both myself and my S.O have one copy each. If ever we need to send off another copy of the package, the one who sends it can make another copy of their package, so that we will both always have a full copy at all times.

Also, any copies of documents that require a signature, make sure they are signed in ink like the originals, or put a second signature on them.

Thanks everyone, I like the idea of scanning and keeping digital copies... I think I will go buy a scanner at Frys, it looks like I can get a sufficient one for under $100... then I can print them out on the color printer at my office
