Hi all,

This may be a silly question, and I may be posting this in the wrong sub-forum, but any help would be appreciated....

I'm currently 7 months pregnant and in the process of finalising our IR-1 marriage visa for myself (UK citizen) and husband (US citizen). We had hoped that this would be over by now but due to administrative delays it's looking more likely that baby will be born here in the UK.

I would like to fly to the USA to live permanently with my new visa as soon as possible once my baby is born. I know I will need to obtain a passport for baby, but should I get a UK passport? Or can I obtain a US passport for baby while I am still in the UK? I am just nervous about flying and then getting turned away at immigration for not having the correct passport for baby!

Thanks all!

US citizens are required to enter the USA on a US passport. The baby would have to have a US passport. You would be filing for CRBA and then a US passport for the baby once you obtained the CRBA. Consular birth abroad http://london.usemba..._20dec2010.html

- moved from US citizenship forums to CRBA forums.

The OP's husband would have to file the CRBA since he is the USC.
