Hello All,

I am waiting since Oct 12 to get approved from CSC. Only, God knows how long it gonna take more. Apparently, some people cannot understand the pain of being apart with our beloved one. Now, I am planning to go to see her soon again. I am thinking to get marriage while I am there. Does anybody have experience of changing K1 application to K3? Can I do that, or I have to restart allover again? Any comment will be appreciated. Thank you

No, you can't switch. And also, K3 is practically no longer issued. We tried it, filed i130 in September and i129f for K3 in early October. Neither has been approved yet. If you got married you would have to file for CR1 and this means the waiting time would start all over again... Since you've already waited for so long, I wouldn't suggest starting the process again, as CR1 waiting times are just as long as K1 waiting times. (In my case it's been 6.5 months and no sign of NOA2)

Yup  although the wait blows, switching visas does not exist all you can do is reapply for the appropriate visa type and thus restart your wait. This far in, I would think it is not worth it to switch.

Hello All,

You are preaching to the choir, there are very many of us that have endured and can clearly understand the pain of a long-distance relationship. We have been in the very same situation as you. :innocent: I visited by then-fiancee a total of 3 (three) times before she was able to obtain her K-1 visa. In addition to the visits, we Skyped daily, emailed daily,

You can withdraw your I-129F K-1 fiancee petition and start all over with the IR-1/CR-1 alien relative petition. IMO, not a very smart move since you will be starting all over, at the bottom of the pile; you already have ~ 6 months into the NOA2 waiting period for your K-1. Look to see if DCF filing is available at your interviewing embassy/consulate.

:clock: can drive you crazy, if you let it.

Hang in there, the end results are certainly worth the wait.

DCF is an option only if the petitioner resides in the country in question for at least six months as of the date of filing.

Good point, though the OP didn't yet mention the residency particulars. I was merely giving possible options….
