Hello All,

I need some information on how to renew a Nigerian passport here in the US.

What I've found so far is extremely confusing. You either pay a $30 fee online and either a $65 fee in person.

Or you pay $170 online and a $30 fee in person. These are for my children and they already have a 10yr GC.

We'd like to send them to the UK for a week over the summer. The visa requirements for the UK are really daunting.

Does the fact that they have a GC make any difference for the documentation?

Thanks for any assistance.

No, a green card holder receives no special treatment with regards to British immigration and visa processes.

You must have an interview at the local Nigerian embassy/consulate to get/renew a Nigerian visa. They are in NY Atlanta and DC

You need to get visas for the UK just like you would if you are in Nigeria. Being green card holders MAY make them more apt to approve it as you have a first world country to return to but does not avoid the visa requirements for a Nigerian travelling there.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You go online and fill out the application for a new passport for each and pick the location where you will interview . They will give you a date for the interview. The fee there was the smaller one, I am not at my bank statement at the moment. When you go for the interview you pay the second fee , there was an extra fee we paid because we did the remote one in Los Angeles when they came in Jan. You also have to provide a prepaid USPS self address envelope ( like express mail ) for them to sent the passport back.

How did you find out they were doing remote interviews? I've emailed inquiries to no avail...guess I'm gonna have to call.

They used to have a consulate in Los Angeles so they tend to come out here to service the large Nigerian communities once a year usually around the end of the year. Once it is announced in the local groups the word speads quickly. Has your husband hooked up with any other the local cultural groups either for his tribe or LGA ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
