Mine was at NBC from the beginning and we got approved in little over 3 months. I see people that sent out their I-130s in July and August that went to other centers and are still in initial review. It seems that way I guess.

If your case was processed at NBC, then you aren't doing DCF like your profile says. DCF would be if you filed directly at the American embassy in Brazil and sent all the paperwork there.

Some cases are getting approved faster than others because of the local field offices. Unless the USC is abroad with the beneficiary (in which case their file would stay at NBC for processing), the case gets send to your local field office (which is determined by the address of the USC), and those field offices vary in procedures. Some are extremely backlogged with cases (LA, for example) and others have hardly any at all (Pittsburgh comes to mind).

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Could it be that these fast approvals are being transferred to local offices and the petitioner does not even know it?? Because in their timeline it says "NBC" Edited by LaVegano

Absolutely. There are no letters or emails sent out when the case is transferred to a field office, so unless you call and speak to a Tier 2 rep, there's no way to know. Most of these cases that have been approved after just a month or two are either couples who filed from abroad, or people who got shipped to a field office that didn't have a high volume of I-130s. It all depends on where you live. good.gif

Not necessarily. NBC doesn't usually do much of the processing - they go through the cases and send them on their way to their respective field office. Regardless, thousands and thousands of cases have to pass through NBC at some point, but don't jump to the conclusion that NBC is the reason your case is taking so long to get approved. It's usually the field office that corresponds to your address. The folks over at Atlanta have been told that even though there are cases that have been sitting there since August, they are just now getting around to processing them, and that they shouldn't expect to hear anything for another two months. It depends on each office and their procedures, really.

Mine stayed at NBC. Never went anywhere. Did not file from abroad. Sometimes just having a perfectly prepared file that happens to land on the right desk at the right time can help. I definitely hold on to the idea that we got a kind kick of luck when we filed.

Actually most of the slower petitions are at field offices and the super fast ones are because both spouses are abroad and are being adjuicated at the NBC because they do not have a local office. There are some exceptions to this of course ;) MsHogan
