Our I-797 says MSC but the address on bottom of notice says NBC. USCIS received our petition onFeb. 14th (Valentines Day) I know we have a wait ahead of us but how can I find out if our petition has been transferred to a local field office?

The coding for the National Benefits Center is MSC.

at some point, you might want to chase down the physical location of the casefile (MSC vs a local office) with a Tier 2 human, an ISO, at the National USCIS call center, using a telephone.

MSC means your file went to NBC, now you want to check if your file currently being processed at NBC or sent to local office , then you will have to make a call to USCIS and talk with T2 Officer whom you should specifically ask about local office. You should call them couple of times to confirm with different officers as it is my experience that sometimes they bluff.

Darnell and Robnhood, When should I make this call? Do I need to wait? Or can I call in morning? Being that I live outside of Dallas,Texas where would my field office be? Or would that be a question for tier 2 officer? Thanks for info.

Input your zip code at the bottom of the page and it gives you your field office.

When I signed on to the USCIS “check my case status” the one day it told me our file had been transferred to a local office.

But not everyone’s says that even if they are there.

You don't have to either. We didn't.

Most likely it went to the Denver field office but we did not call and like most people, we did not receive any notification of a transfer. Most files are transferred. There are a few that aren't transferred that are from petitioners within the USA but you'll see those people with very quick timelines (MsHogan comes to mind.)

They do but don't be surprised if it's transferred after the first month or two. Did you speak to a tier 2, ISO? A CSR will always say your case is at the NBC.
