Hello !

I didn't find an answer to my question so I thought I would ask you guys. I hope someone will be able to help us !

So, we have started filing the forms for the K1 visa.

On my side (alien fiancee) it's quite easy. Problem is, he has a criminal background. Since he's older than me, and he has lived in several states, I can't get my hands on everything. I've been calling Court Houses but most of them don't answer the phone. The only one that picked up so far asked for $30 for a print of his records (unless I can go myself).

I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but i'm gonna ask anyway : do we need the complete criminal records?

Do one of you know a simpler way to get it?

(PS : I've read somewhere that age difference can be a problem too?)

Thanks !

In the US, all a USC has to do is go to a local county sheriff's department, pay the fee ($10 in my county in GA) and get a complete criminal record that [should] include local, state and federal records. But, in my county the person requesting the criminal report has to be the person listed on the criminal report. i.e., you may need permission from the person to request a criminal report on that person. I don't know if this will help in your case or not.

Best of luck!

Agreed, this is best done from the US side and not from a foreign country.
