Hi fellow VJ's

I just got back from the Philippines and married my Boyfriend, He is a Filipino and I am too and I am also a LPR here in the US since December 2011 through IR2 daughter of a US citizen, and just got married Feb 2013. I also have an 8 year old daughter before the marriage with a different man but not married to him.

I am just confused on what to do, I have several questions which don't have a clear answers yet, I was hoping somebody from this community can give me a little bit of info.

1. I am planning to go back next year in the Philippines, Do I need to change my Philippine passport info since I am already married, from single to married.

2. Do I need to change also the status info of my drivers license, state id, my Green card, and SSS? what about my employer, do i need to inform them to change my status?

3. Do I personally need to go to USCIS to inform them with my change of status, since I am planning to process my husband and my daughters petition 2 months from now?

Please help.THANK YOU

You have an option to change your surname or not.

If you choose to use your married name then yes, you will have to change your name on all of your ID cards including your passport and green card. You will need a copy of your NSO marriage certificate.

Like april said, changing your last name is an optional decision. I dont think you should have any problems about your passport still being in your maiden name especially if your green card is consistent. You have your marriage certificate to proove you are married so that should surfice. if it troubles your mind too much then just change everything and get a new green card( dont know how long that process takes).

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!
