Certificate of good conduct Holland

Hello,

I lived for many years in Holland. Today I called the ministry of justice in Holland to request a certificate of good conduct.

The man on the phone told me that Holland does not issues these since they are not accepted by the US.

Has anyone from Holland has the same experience? What should I do now?

I don't want to be missing papers on the day of the interview.

If anyone can help me with some information, I appreciate it very much

Here's the Deparment of State information on Police clearances from the Netherlands

Police Records

Available. Police records can only be requested for immigrant visa applicants by the United States Consulate or Embassy where the applicant's case is being processed. Any certificate presented directly by applicants cannot be accepted. To request a police record, the visa processing post should send an email to the Consulate General in Amsterdam at ImmigrantVisasAMS@state.gov. The request must include:

Applicant's full name(s) including aliases:

Date, city/town and country of birth;

Complete address of last residence in The Netherlands.

The Consulate General in Amsterdam may need up to 15 working days to obtain the certificate, provided there is no derogatory information concerning the applicant. If there is derogatory information it may take up to five weeks.

The certificate, which is in the Dutch language, covers criminal investigations only. Criminal records are expunged after a number of years, depending on the offense, following termination of the case (i.e., after service of any prison sentence) provided no other offense is committed in the interim. Police records may, therefore, not constitute a full summary of criminal records. Applicants with a criminal history can obtain their own conviction record from the sentencing court.

These certificates may be used only in processing immigrant visa applications and may not be given to the applicant or to any private individual. The visa applicant may not be informed of the source of any derogatory information contained in the police certificate.

Are you K1 or IR1? If K1 I would contact the US embassy that will hold your interview to see what they can do. If IR1 then I would contact NVC to see what their procedure is - if they give you a letter, send an email or they waive the requirement until the interview.

Sorry no personal experience for you but that's at least some place to start.

The Embassy or the NVC will request a criminal background check in the Netherlands on your behalf. Make sure to submit AND bring to the interview a cover letter that includes your name, DOB, and the last address you lived in the Netherlands, and also the date you last lived in the Netherlands.

To clarify: where will you be having your interview? The Embassy in Caracas will know what to do about the Netherlands police certificate.

I will contact the embassy. We applied for the K1 visa.

I don't have a date yet for the interview. I'm just starting early with collecting my papers

I'm having my interview in Caracas.

When do I summit the cover letter with my info in it?
