I received my NOA 1 hard copy and i noticed that it was in my maiden name. I guess I have to admit that I'm a little in the brain. On the application it asked for my Family name instead of using the name that is on my social security card (my legal name) I used my maiden name. So I called USCIS and the gentleman told me to submit a letter with my case number on it aand explain what I did wrong. I did just that and I also sent my original social security card so that they want have to ask for it later. I just was not thinking properly I guess. I tripled checked my paper work for errors. Now I know what Family name means, what I way to learn huh. My question is..... Do you guys think that they will still give me an RFE for this error although I submitted the letter to the office that is handling my petition? BTW I did send it overnight with a tracking signature, they have received it. I'm so worried, I have been praying for no errors and no delays now this. (feeling sad)unsure.gif

You should NOT have sent your Social Security card.

HOPEFULLY you'll get it back in 8-9 months

I hope the OP will not need to file the (expensive) form to request return of documents. It might be easier to report the card lost (AFTER the immigration process) and just get another one, though there is a limit to how many replacement cards you can have in your life.

Expensive form for a S.S. card? I mean how difficult is for you all to get replacement? I already filed for another one and its on its way in the mail. My question was do anybody think that It will cause a delay in our process by me using my maiden name in the area where it requested my family name? The card is not an issue to me. I sent the card to ease my mind of them thinking im doing something fraudulent. The name on the form is my issue not my card. Can anybody answer that part of the question if you know please???? And thank you?

It is possible, but no one can tell you for sure. It might just be fixed with your letter. *shrugs* USCIS is a mystery.

No. Expensive form to request that original documents be returned.

Did you send all original documents to the USCIS? Or just your social security card?

I sent copies to the USCIS, I sent the original SS card, just incase they want more evidence of my legal name. I ran it by the representative that I spoke with i'm, good on that part. The other original documents such as marriage license goes to NVC or perhaps when requested from NVC.

thanks again for you guys reply

Just was curious. Yes you send the marriage license etc to the NVC.
