Hi, all. I'm about to start the application process for a K-1 visa and am currently a bit nervous about my capacity to provide proof of the ongoing relationship. I've been living with my fiance in the UK for the past 2 years so I at least have a tenancy agreement with both our names on it, but a) he's a bit camera-shy so there aren't a lot of pictures of us and b) we don't exactly email or MSN message each other a lot seeing as we live in the same house. (The recent MSN logs I do have are rather... personal in nature, so heavy editing might have to be involved if I did send them.) Could I call on someone to sign an official statement? Should I just postpone sending off my I-129F till I've built up a backlog of documentation? Any help would be appreciated.

for starters welcome to vj. uscis does not need alot of photos but since live together for 2 years why not get married and file cr1

then would make the rest little easier then file k1 as after k1 visa have to file aos soon after and not as if time apart is not a problem ? then mostly only need proof of have lived together ie rental papers and household bills

I am not sure how much proof of an ongoing relationship they are looking for. When you, the USC, files the I129F the important thing to provide is proof that you have met in the past 2 years. You can do this by presenting ticket stubs of your travel to England, copies of your passport stamps, or visa (I am assuming you have a residency visa as you have been living there for 2 years), or anything else to show you have met in the past 2 years. Also, if you want to include pictures (which are considered secondary evidence)you do not need to include many. A couple will do. Good Luck with everything.

Photos and chat logs are secondary evidence anyway, you need primary evidence. Lease agreement with both your names and any legal paperwork that shows he lives in the UK will suffice.

For the I-129F the only requirements you need to meet are 1) you are a USC--proof with US passport or US birth certificate, 2) the two of you have meet within the 2 years before filing the petiton, 3) both of you are free to marry, 4) both of you intend to get married to each other within the 90 days of the beneficiary's arrival in the US. Period. Now for the interview at the Consulate/Embassy they will want to see that the relationship is bona fide. Since you are going thru the UK, that proof does not need to be volumes and volumes. We had a few , maybe 10 photos, of us together, phone logs and e-mails. Compared to what I have read others have submitted, we had very little of the ongong relationship evidence--this is where I think quality out weighs quanity. You are living together which is better than most K-1s where the USC is in the US and the beneficairy is in their country. Those that have been thru the process from the UK can tell you better on how the interview is and what they are looking for.

Good luck,

Dave
