Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here so i am really sorry if i am writing in a wrong topic=)

I have been approved for I-765 after contacting Congresswoman here in Lowell,MA.

So what will be next in my process? When will i get my actual EAD?

I will greatly appreciate anything you can tell me=)

Also i have a question: my husband is much older than me but we truly love each other and can easily prove this - know everything about each other and also all small stuff and secrets that only he and I can know=) Are USCIS officers are really brutal when they come across such 'nontraditional' couple?

TIA

A

congrats!

After the approval you should receiving it after 7 to 10 days. But why did you need to involve your congressman? what kind of visa are you adjusting of?

Usually people gets their EAD after 60 to 70 days after filling the AoS with no problems unless you have a RFE.

After getting the EAD you will receive an interview appointment notice for your GREENCARD or you can be approved without an interview.

Usually age is not a huge problem unless the age difference its something like 30 or 40 years...either way I've heard of people who never had issues with that.

If you are having an interview you will need to bring a list of items including proof of your marriage.

I'm happily married to my 13 years older divorce third cousin hahahaha you can't get any "nontraditional" than that... and even though we are family, with an age difference and a previous marriage it was never an issue...I wouldn't be worry

Thanx a lot for such a quick reply=)

I had to involve congressman because of how USCIS treated me and my case. And after the lady contacted them - approval was done in 3 days=)

Good news that it is just 10 days till i will get my card and can go to work, get SSI name change and get a driving license .=)

I came here as J-1 (2 years rule doesnt apply)

My I-765 was 90 smth days cause i we had RFE - forgot to send tax refunds with I-864 lol It still says on my timeline on USCIS web-page that RFE received and is now reviewed.

This is cool that there will be no interview - but i am ready anyway=) Any idea of particular questions they can ask?

THANX A LOT AGAIN,

A

oHHH now I get it! Normally people don't go through a huge ordeal to get the EAD, but after all you went through, you were right on ask for some help.

Well yeah, the EAD is a huge help, you can go and get the SSN, Driver license and work. The only thing you can't do is going outside the States unless you had file for an AP (i131). If you did not, you need to wait for your green card if your are planning to go to Russia or elsewhere.

Remember you are not a legal resident YET, until you get your greencard.

Questions? well I'm still waiting for my GC so I can only share what other's shared with me. Some people told me that, this interview was pretty similar to the k1 or the cr1 interview. They usually ask how you guys met, for how long, things about each other's family, things about your current home, anniversary, work, studies,...thing that a married couple should've known.

In some cases, they can separate you and have individual interviews so they can match your answer, or they can keep you together. There's no way to know until that day.

Here is a link with some questions that VJ members shared through the years... http://www.visajourney.com/content/exampleq#aos you can also the k1 and the CR1 example questions

Most of the reviews I read are very positive in this kind of interviews, some of them are not but as long as you are honest and you can proof you are in a real relationship you should be ok

Yeah still need to wait till GC=) But it is probably just another month or so=) The most important that i will be able to be a normal person now and work (hate being housewife lol) . I have already SSN just need to get my name changed and get read of "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" . Hopefully this will not take forever. I do not mind all this process (papers and interviews) but waiting time is the worst for me as i do not have patience lol

Thanx for the link - i will def go and read what people were saying =)

TIA

It's ok=))) I know - they write that the wait is 6.9 months on it lol but you never know. My friend got everything done in 4 months - K-1 visa. And her actual card was on hands 18th of January. So i guess she was a lucky one. Hopefully will be able to update my timeline in a couple days when my card and may be interview invitation will come= )

TIA

One of the most critical items requested will be "evidence of the relationship" which proves that your marriage is true and faithful (i.e. photos, joint checking account, joint lease, joint mortgage, and birth certificates of children if any, etc.). Also, it is important to bring the current passport of the beneficiary to the interview.
