Help Guide on how to petition my mother

I am taking my oath on Feb 13th. I want to submit my mom's petition on the same day if possible.

Questions:

- Will I get my certificate on the day of my oath taking?

- Can I apply for US passport on that same day as well?

Can anybody here help me with a step by step process on what do I need to send on my first packet?

I cant find any list on VJ.

Thank you.

yes you will get your certificate same day and can send off your package same day. I did the same thing ( see my signature below). Just fill out the form I-130, include copy of your naturalization cert AND copy of your birth certificate( hope it has both your name and that of your mother?), then write out a check in the proper format as per the instructions.

best wishes!!!

for me it was very straightforward. I filled out the I-130 application, with copies of my birth certificate, and naturalization cert and of course check for payment properly addressed. I took it along to my oath ceremony(except the naturalization cert which I was yet to get of course) and as soon as I was sworn in as a citizen, stopped by the nearest post office and mailed of the package.

once approved it follows the same process as the spousal visa in terms of civil documents required. The only exceptionis that you need the original Birth cert of petitioner for a parent's case.

we were not asked for DNA. I hear some were asked to do this.

she was asked three questions at the interview: who is petitioning you, where does she live? what does she do?

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!

Thanks ndu26,

Your information was really helpful. One question i forgot to ask was that: how were your parent"s" contacted for the interview or was it that after you were approved, ####### is you they would send the letter for interview and/or DNA test instructions to? After which you will inform your parents?..I never did the spousal visa so I really dont know how it works in terms of communcation and the flow of information
