Hey everyone,

I wanting to start my petition for my fiance who lives in Curitiba. We met as missionaries for our church and I have already been back to see her just these last couple of weeks. We have plenty of photos and e-mails so now it is just processing the paperwork.

As I have been trying to file the paperwork I´ve been stuck on which Consulate I am suppose to put. Am I suppose to put the consulate in São Paulo since that is the closet one to her or the embassy in Rio since that is where the interview will be?

Also when sending in our letters and e-mails which are all in portugues, do they all need to be translated as well or just her documents?

If there is anyone who can help me I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!!!!!!

Rio de Janeiro is the consulate in Brazil for K1, the USA embassy is in Brasilia (DF).

I would not worry about yours emails are in Portuguese, send pictures showing you met within the last 2 years, emails, and fill correctly all the forms.

If you would like to ask more drop me a line....I am available to help.

Something I am trying to find out as well is what exactly needs to be translate and what doesn´t. The things that do need to be can I translate them myself or does it have to be an official translator and the translationg notarized?

Thank you so much!!!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Be sure to file the correct form. Form I-129 is for a Nonimmigrant Farm Worker, Form I-129F is for a K-1 Fiance(e) visa. :guides: and the regional forums for more great information.

How are things going in the City of Salt this time of year?

Good luck on your visa journey.

Everything not in English must be translated.

remember that at this stage of the process primary evidence of meeting in person are the most important: visa/passport stamps, airline ticket boarding passes, itinerary, hotel receipts, ATM withdrawals in her city, restaurant receipts that match credit card transactions. Photos and emails are secondary evidence, but if you send them you will have to send a translation. There is no need to send notarized translations, but the person doing it for you must write a statement saying he/she is "competent to translate and that the translation is accurate" clique here to see how it can be.

We met the same way! Welcome to VJ. When you get to the interview stage you can provide letters and emails in portuguese with no translation necessary. I translated my own documents and attached a note saying I am fluent in both languages. If you search for certified translator form on VJ you can find an example. Be sure to attach it if you do your own translation.
