im a Filipina and married to a fil-am guy. i had my visa interview last January 8, 2013.. the American Consul that intervied me said that everything is ok with my immigrant visa application (CR1) but he needs me to submitt an NBI clearance with my name, using my ex-husbands lastname (since i had an annulment from my previous marriage).. so to comply with, i get an NBI clearance and sent it to the US embassy manila via 2GO courier.. then on January18 o received an email from the embassy manila, informing me that they receive my NBIclearance last January 18,2013. in their email they told me that " my case has been referred to a consular officer for review. The time required to process a visa application varies by case and depends on its complexity and the number and intricacy of other cases awaiting review"

im worried how long will it take for them to review my case.. they didnt ask for any document naman na, just that NBI clearance with my name using my 1st husbands lastname.,

anyone here on visajourney na kagaya ko ng visa case.. im worried because its already February and my medical will expire on march13.. and one thing more i dont know if im approved or not.. do i have a chance na approved ang visa application ko? pls pls i need advice.. thank you!

yung interview ko po sa american consul mga 1minute lang.. he just asked me the usual thing.. my name, dob, name of my husband and his dob and where he lives..

tapos sabi po niya "everything is ok with your visa application but i need you to submitt an NBI clearance with your name using your first husbands lastname" ( ganyan po yung eksaktong sinabi nya hehe) tapos sabi pa po nya "you dont need to come back here to submitt your NBI clearance, you need to send it via 2go courier. you can take your seat and wait for your name to be called for the instructions on how you are going to send your NBI clearance"

ganyan na ganyan po ang sinabi hehe, talagang tinandaan ko po haha!

hindi ko naman po kasi alam na kailangan pala ng NBI clearance na gamit ay yung lastname from previous marriage..

That is odd, my better half had to submit a document and the Embassy had to pick up the document in Pasay. I just checked the website and said it was received on 1 feb 2013 and that they are reviewing it at this time.

It is amazing how some have to mail there documents and others do not. Go figure

You failed to follow the instructions to obtain an NBI clearance in all previous names used, including married names and maiden names. That us what is holding up your final approval.

Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names.

@ the patriot yes i know.. i didnt know about that until after my interview.. i should have read more about the documents i should be bringing and i'll be needing..the previous marriage i had, its a marriage without my knowledge

(i found out about it when im securing an Certificate of No Marriage last 2009 bcoz me & my present husband are getting married.. my alleged 1st husband is a friend who ask for a favor wayback 2002, he's a seaman & he believes that when he tells his company he'll get extra money for the "allotment for wife".. so he asked me to sign a blank marriage contract for him to submitt in his company.. then after that he never showed up ever.. i signed the blank Marriage Contract bcoz i believe even if i signed it, it will never be valid bcoz im only 16yrs old that time.. thats why my previous marriage was annuled becoz its been null and void since the beginning"

thats why i never thought that i have "AKA or other names" becoz i never used his lastnames anyway.. i never used it in any single document.. but its too late now.. i should have read and ask more about the documents i'll be needing..

thank you guys..this website is giving me a lot of ideas.. how i wish i've seen this website before i had my interview :( im so sad

You won't be the first. Don't worry. They are used to it.
