I just checked on the USCIS my case status (for the first time in months as it was originally not working) and it says that in late October our Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E).

Is this normal?

What does this mean?

Should I have received something in the mail?

It now says initial review. How long does the initial review normally last?

Dont worry. I have the same thing. We are now in the stage that we have to wait 4-5 months before the approval,. I always check mine online and it doesnt change. Dont worry ; )

4-5 months from NOA1 date.

Well, yes... X-Y months from NOA1 based on whatever the graphs and timelines are currently projecting for your service centre.

1. Yes, it appears to be. Some people seem to be getting theirs very soon after NOA1, which appears to be a glitch - just part of the processing.

More usually, it appears that folks see that just before they get NOA2, when it isn't a glitch.

2. They assign a number to the beneficiary when they're processing it - it's just a reference number for the person. Nothing bad. You won't have had one in the first place, normally, so they're just giving you one.

4. See the other replies, but if you fill out your timeline info, you can get a prediction of when you might expect a response. Depending on where your petition went, it'll take anything up to 7 months.

Is that a question? If so: You can tell from your NOA1 number. If it starts WAC, it went to California and if it starts EAC it went to Vermont.

Yeah it was a question. I know it is Vermont, but I just wondered what the processing time for that was and when people say it can take anything up to 7 months is that just before I get the NOA2 or the total duration of the process. I just had a look at what the timeline are currently projecting for the Vermont service centre, but did not understand it...

Oh, okay.

Right, so the timelines on here are based on everyone's data so they're just guesses based on averages and such. If you enter your dates into a timeline, it'll give you an estimation of when you might get your approval. http://www.visajourney.com/tutorials/create-new-timeline.htm <-- that's the video to explain how.

Basically, people are saying about 7 months for Vermont because that's how long they're experiencing it taking at the moment. Folks who submitted there in July are starting to get their approvals about now.

Maybe 7-10 months to get to the visa, hopefully it will speed up.
